About this role

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Mechanical Integrity & Lifing Designer on our Additive Manufacturing Design and Product Implementation team, you will develop innovative design solutions and concepts for combustion and turbine parts using the latest 3D CAD systems. You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, applying your analytical skills to assess designs from functional, manufacturing and cost perspectives.

You will also be responsible for all aspects of part lifing against design requirements while collaborating with the team to develop effective design solutions for combustion and turbine components.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Create dynamic 3D CAD parametric models for MDO (multi-disciplinary design optimization) and develop intricate 3D geometry models, layouts and FMEA life assessments.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure product optimization in accordance with comprehensive design requirements, contributing to the greater vision of Siemens Energy.
  • Support the planning of product definition tasks and manufacturing support efforts.
  • Collaborate with the factory and applications team to support the fabrication and assembly of prototype components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues identified during prototyping and testing, ensuring designs are optimized for additive manufacturability (DFAM).
  • Support the validation and testing of new and modified mechanical components to verify they meet all functional and performance requirements.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field; a lower technical degree with substantial work experience in product development and design may also be considered.
  • 2 or more years of experience in mechanical design, including experience in turbomachinery component design with dedicated skills in design for additive manufacturing (DFAM).
  • Strong proficiency in Siemens NX 3D CAD systems, along with working knowledge of MS Office, Siemens PLM Teamcenter and SAP.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures and engineering reports.
  • Experience contributing to the training of global teams and knowledge-sharing initiatives by documenting design processes and best practices.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
