HVAC/R Operations Manager

Setpoint Refrigeration LLC is a growing, owner-operated HVAC/R company serving residential and commercial customers throughout Connecticut. We’re looking for an Operations Manager to work directly with the owner to build and lead our service and installation operations.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity. You’ll organize work, develop employees, reinforce company standards, and help build the processes and teams that support growth. Initially, the role will include field supervision, technical support, and direct involvement in jobs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily service and installation operations, coordinating people, schedules, materials, and equipment.
• Work with the office to match assignments to employee skills, customer needs, and available capacity.
• Help recruit, evaluate, onboard, and develop technicians, installers, apprentices, and future field leaders.
• Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for workmanship, safety, attendance, documentation, and customer treatment.
• Review job scopes and prepare crews before work begins; monitor progress through completion.
• Provide technical guidance, inspect work, and address callbacks and customer concerns.
• Track labor, material costs, job profitability, productivity, and completion times; recommend improvements.
• Build and reinforce practical procedures, checklists, and training standards.
• Ensure Housecall Pro records include accurate notes, photos, job status, and follow-up needs.
• Coordinate with the owner and sales function so new commitments match the company’s capabilities and capacity.
• Help develop service and project management functions as the company grows.

Qualifications

• Experience leading service or installation teams within an HVAC/R contracting business.
• Strong understanding of HVAC/R service, maintenance, and installation operations.
• Ability to plan work, solve problems, manage priorities, and follow through.
• Experience training employees and addressing performance issues professionally.
• Understanding of job costing, labor planning, and profitable operations.
• Clear communication and sound customer-service judgment.
• Comfort using field-service software; Housecall Pro experience is a plus.
• Commercial refrigeration experience is strongly preferred.
• Relevant Connecticut trade license is preferred; any field work must be performed within applicable licensing requirements.
• Valid driver’s license.
