About this role
Position Overview
The Bilingual Accounting Specialist (Korean / English) oversees daily accounting, bookkeeping, and financial workflows for our Roanoke manufacturing plant. This role handles full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, plant-level cost tracking, payroll reconciliations, and routine financial reporting.
Operating in both English and Korean, this position bridges communication between plant operations, local vendors/customers, and executive leadership to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Process full-cycle Accounts Payable, including three-way matching (purchase orders, receiving reports, and vendor invoices), accurate account coding, and payment scheduling.
- Manage Accounts Receivable workflows: customer billing, invoice generation, payment applications, and collections tracking.
- Reconcile vendor statements, investigate and resolve invoice/billing discrepancies, and oversee vendor onboarding (W-9 / 1099 compliance).
- Deliver responsive customer service in both Korean and English to resolve financial inquiries with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, preparing and posting standard journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy in alignment with US GAAP and corporate policies.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial summaries, variance analyses, and management reports for facility and corporate leadership.
- Enter, verify, and maintain daily financial transactions and bookkeeping records with high accuracy.
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
Support
- Assist with tracking raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods inventory.
- Coordinate with plant operations on physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and valuation adjustments.
- Support tracking of capital expenditures (CapEx), facility build-out costs, and fixed asset schedules.
Payroll, Tax & Compliance
- Partner with HR and corporate administration to support bi-weekly payroll processing reconciliations, timekeeping verifications, and benefit accrual tracking.
- Assist in compiling documentation and supporting schedules for internal/external audits and state/local tax filings (e.g., sales and use tax, property tax).
- Maintain strong internal controls surrounding facility purchasing, banking records, and employee expense reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Language (Mandatory): Native or professional bilingual fluency in Korean and English (spoken, reading, and written) to facilitate direct communication with corporate leadership, bilingual vendors, and local teams.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred. Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or plant setting is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Solid working knowledge of general accounting principles (US GAAP), full-cycle AP/AR, and general ledger operations.
- Proficiency in ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar manufacturing systems).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) and standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Education & Certifications: Relevant coursework, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is welcome; practical hands-on experience and proven execution will be prioritized.
