Web Modernization and SmarTrip Mobile App 2.0 Projects
WMATA is currently executing two strategic digital modernization initiatives: the Web Modernization Project and the SmarTrip Mobile App 2.0 Project. Both projects are actively underway and are critical to enhancing the customer experience across WMATA's digital channels.
The Web Modernization Project involves the complete redevelopment of the front-end experience for wmata comand smartrip.wmata.com, replacing the existing platform that was last significantly refreshed in 2016.
While a separate vendor is responsible for the website front-end implementation, WMATA requires resources to develop, integrate, test, and deploy the supporting SmarTrip backend services and APIs necessary to enable the new website functionality.
The modernized platform will continue to serve as WMATA's primary digital channel fortransit information, customer self-service capabilities, and SmarTrip account managementThe SmarTrip Mobile App 2.0 Project focuses on enhancing the existing iOS and Android SmarTrip Mobile application by introducing new features and improvements designed to provide a more personalized, intuitive, anduser-friendly customer experience.
WMATA requires support for application integration, development, configuration, testing, deployment, and production implementation of the SmarTrip backend components that support the mobile application and related services
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, and implement technical designs.
- Evaluate customer requirements and provide effective solutions.
- Participate in problem resolution related to system design and review.
- Recommend approval of functional and technical design documents and enactment of systems, program enhancements, and updates of Web applications.
- Analyze and evaluate system changes to determine feasibility, alternative solutions, and backup procedures.
- Work on General Orders Track Rights System and Site-Specific Work Plan application programs, upgrades, and enhancements to existing systems, and ensure systems are compliant with approved standards.
- Successfully complete mandatory WMATA security awareness training on an annual basis.
- Review and assist with system hardening and vulnerability remediation.
- Participate in mandatory peer code reviews as part of the code commitment process to ensure that secure coding practices are being followed before code is merged.
