Industrial Designer– Tradeshow Exhibits & Structural Design

Location: On-Site – SCS WORX | Position Type: Full-Time (In-Person)

About the Role

We seek a collaborative, detail-oriented person to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will bridge the gap between creative visual concepts and structural reality, working side-by-side with our team on the floor to design dynamic, safe, and reusable exhibit structures, booths, and custom environments.

You will integrate directly into an established team of project managers, designers, and shop fabricators. Success in this role requires a flexible mindset, clear communication, and the ability to adapt designs based on real-time feedback from clients and coworkers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structural Design & Drafting:

Translate creative concepts into fully detailed 3D CAD models, structural assemblies, and fabrication-ready shop drawings using SOLIDWORKS.

  • Team-First Collaboration:

Work closely with our existing shop team, project managers, and graphic designers in person to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and easy to assemble.

  • Hands-On Value Engineering:

Spend time on the shop floor to review physical prototypes, gather feedback from builders, and adapt structural designs for optimal weight, strength, and ease of setup.

  • Materials & Cut Lists:

Generate accurate material lists, hardware specifications, and cut lists for manufacturing.

  • Digital renders/visualization

  • Flexible Problem-Solving:

Pivot quickly when project scopes, client requests, or floor requirements change, maintaining an open and adaptable attitude.

  • Continuous Learning:

Eagerly learn new fabrication methods, modular framing technologies, and trade show construction standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Work Arrangement:

100% In-Person position.

  • Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Technical Skills:

Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and Adobe illustrator (or equivalent 3D CAD software) for structural design and drafting.

  • Core Competencies:
  • Strong drafting and spatial visualization capabilities.
  • Background and knowledge in CAD, woodworking and CNC
  • A highly collaborative spirit and willingness to work within an existing team dynamic.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting project timelines and evolving shop needs.
  • Strong desire to learn and master new systems.

Preferred Qualifications (Pluses)

  • Exhibit & Display Experience:

Prior experience in trade show exhibit fabrication, custom cabinetry, retail fixture design, or set construction.

  • Material Knowledge:

Understanding of aluminum extrusions, wood fabrication, Sand portable hardware systems.

  • SolidWorks knowledge or willingness to be taught
