About this role
Position summary
The Technical Product Owner owns the systems that run Scrap-It's field operations, from bookings and scheduling to field work and billing. You'll act as product owner and system admin for our operations platform, Scrappy: gathering needs from the people who use it, setting priorities, and shipping improvements with our development team. You'll also keep our day-to-day technology running, from user accounts to integrations.
You'll report to the CTO and work closely with operations, finance and field leadership.
About Scrap-It
Scrap-It provides construction site services to homebuilders across Dallas–Fort Worth and is expanding into Houston. Our services include site cleans, erosion control, dumpsters, demolition and protection, and HOA mowing. We build our own technology, including Scrappy, our operations platform, and ClearSite, a SaaS product that turns jobsite photos into cleanliness and compliance data.
Key responsibilities
Product ownership
- Own the roadmap and backlog for Scrappy and related internal tools; write clear requirements and prioritize by business impact.
- Gather needs from schedulers, crews, trade partners, finance and leadership through regular check-ins and jobsite visits.
- Lead the evaluation of Scrappy's future: improve, rebuild, buy a platform, or combine approaches.
- Define success metrics for new features and report on adoption and results.
Operations systems
- Set up and manage communities in our internal systems
- Deliver improvements to bookings, scheduling, field data capture, trade pay and billing, including AI-assisted job intake and automated QuickBooks export.
- Triage issues reported from the field, reproduce them, and coordinate fixes with the development team.
- Turn prototypes built by department leaders into supported, documented systems connected to our platform.
- Run the intake process for new tools and integrations, including training for the people who use them.
- Build with AI as a core part of the job: use AI coding tools such as Claude to prototype, write and test changes quickly, with you owning the design and the result.
- Review AI-built code and tools, yours and others', for correctness, security, data access and reliability before they reach production, and set the team's standards for doing this well.
Systems administration
- Manage user accounts, access and devices for new and existing team members across Microsoft 365 and other company systems.
- Maintain integrations and services such as email delivery, telephony and accounting connections.
- Lead hosting and infrastructure moves, including migrating internal apps to stable, supported hosting.
- Keep documentation, vendor relationships and license renewals current.
Required qualifications
- 3+ years in a hands-on technical role, such as technical product management, solutions engineering, business systems, or software development.
- Working knowledge of code and data: JavaScript or TypeScript, SQL, and REST APIs.
- Experience administering business systems, user accounts and SaaS integrations.
- Comfort building with AI tools and judging when a quick prototype is ready to become a real system.
- Strong written requirements and documentation habits.
- Clear communication with field crews, trade partners, clients and leadership.
- Ownership mindset: you see a problem through to the fix.
Preferred qualifications
- Product management or product ownership experience is a big plus, especially running a roadmap for internal or operations software.
- Examples of tools, automations or workflows you've built or reviewed with AI. Show us what you made and how you checked it.
- Experience in construction, field services or logistics.
- Familiarity with field-service platforms such as ServiceTitan or FieldPulse.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Twilio, SendGrid or similar business integrations.
- Microsoft 365 administration.
Benefits and work environment

- Annual bonus target.
- A small, fast-moving leadership team where your work ships quickly and is used every day.
- Room to grow as our operations and technology scale.
