Senior Systems R&D Engineer

(Contract, 20-32 hours/week)

Mountain View, CA (Onsite)

Overview

Seeking a hands-on Senior Systems R&D Engineer to support development of a novel neurovascular stroke therapy platform that combines capital equipment and catheter-based technology to deliver localized hypothermia after clot removal procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support multiple active product development programs.
  • Develop and test catheter-based and system-level components.
  • Work closely with catheter, software, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Create specifications, test methods, verification plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Participate in design controls, risk management, clinical-stage development, and manufacturing transfer activities.
  • Evaluate system performance related to temperature, pressure, and fluid flow.

Must-Haves

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5-7+ years of medical device experience.
  • Background in catheter development and/or systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of fluidics, pressure, flow rates, and temperature management.
  • Experience developing products prior to commercialization/PMA approval.
  • Experience supporting clinical-stage products or clinical trials.
  • Startup medical device experience preferred.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Neurovascular, cardiovascular, or other catheter-based device experience.
  • Heat transfer, cooling, refrigeration, or thermal management experience.
  • Design verification, risk management, and design controls experience.
