Position Summary

Samsung, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, is founded on a simple philosophy – the endless pursuit of excellence will create a better world for all.

At Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL), we are building a center of excellence for Intellectual Property (IP) that is applied to high-performance computing devices (mobile, automotive, and other custom market segments) consumed by millions of people around the world. Come build with us!

Role And Responsibilities

As a Senior GPU Front-End Integration Engineer, you will contribute to top-level RTL integration of complex GPU blocks and subsystems to deliver scalable, high-quality implementations for Samsung’s next-generation mobile GPUs.

In this mid-to-senior individual contributor role, you will partner closely with architecture, RTL, verification, and other design teams to help resolve system-level challenges, support front-end integration strategy, and ensure execution readiness to meet market-competitive performance and power targets across concurrent GPU development cycles.

You bring curiosity and knowledge in GPU/CPU RTL integration knowledge, front-end ASIC flows, and a collaborative mindset that aligns teams and accelerate delivery of GPU IPs.

  • You contribute to the integration of complex GPU blocks and subsystems, supporting RTL partitioning decisions and integration strategies that ensure functional correctness, architectural alignment, scalability, and clean physical design across IP generations.
  • You enjoy learning about the integration lifecycle, driving front-end RTL quality and readiness by executing design quality checks—including lint, CDC, and logical equivalence—and delivering production-quality RTL to SoC and physical design teams.
  • You support technical excellence by supporting RTL databases and managing memory macros, hard macros, and standard cell libraries, ensuring consistency, traceability, and integration robustness across projects.
  • You help advance critical visibility into design health by contributing to block-level synthesis, monitoring area and timing metrics, and proactively identifying integration risks related to performance, power, and implementation feasibility.
  • You take initiatives on moderate-to-complex projects and help advance best practices, methodologies by staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Skills And Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/relevant technical field, or a Master's degree.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in GPU, CPU, or SoC RTL integration
  • Working understanding of front-end ASIC design flows, from RTL integration through synthesis and physical design handoff.
  • Proficient in RTL coding and integration using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Working understanding of synthesis tools, timing analysis, floorplanning and PNR flow.
  • Good proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, or TCL.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting designs, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, global team environment.

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of ECOs and late-stage design changes.

Our Team

The GPU Project and RTL team at SARC/ACL owns the microarchitecture development of features for Samsung’s current and next-generation mobile GPU IPs. Our work spans core RTL design, front-end implementation, power and performance optimization, firmware enablement, and the infrastructure needed to deliver scalable, production-ready designs.

Through cross-functional collaboration, we translate architectural concepts into high-quality RTL that delivers market-differentiating performance and energy efficiency. Our Xclipse GPU is the industry’s first mobile GPU with hardware ray tracing technology, enabling console-level graphics on Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

You will join a diverse, highly collaborative organization working across concurrent-development cycles, with direct impact on consumer technologies used worldwide. Here you’ll help build what’s next, experiment with new ideas and explore different GPU development verticals, broaden technical expertise, and solve impactful challenges in a supportive environment that values collaboration, continuous learning, and growth.
