About this role
Russ & Associates Accounting and Tax Specialists
Full Time - In person
About Our Firm:
We are a premier, highly efficient independent accounting and tax practice experiencing strong organic growth in the booming New Albany micro-market. Utilizing an advanced, automated tech stack ( including TaxDome, QBO/Desktop, and AI Driven data extraction software), we eliminate much of the manual data entry so our team can focus on high-value client advisory.
Our firm manages a robust book of 1000+ tax clients and 65 recurring small business accounting and fractional CFO relationships.
We are looking for an experienced Enrolled Agent(EA) or CPA to work directly alongside the Firm Owner and our Senior Tax Preparer. This is not just a standard compliance job - it is a defined path to executive leadership and potential equity ownership of a highly profitable and growing practice.
What You Will Do:
- Client Relationship Leadership: Conduct in-office, face-to-face client meetings for personal and business tax clients, effectively managing relationships and presenting tax strategies.
- Tax Quality Control & Review: Perform the secondary review of personal and corporate tax returns processed via our automated data intake tools, staff, and software ( Drake Software).
- Monthly Financial Review: Outside and during tax season, take ownership of reviewing monthly and quarterly financial compilations, checking the work of junior data-entry staff before delivery to clients.
- Advisory & Cash Flow Support: Assist the Firm Owner in managing cash flow, payroll entries, and operational compliance for our premium monthly accounting and outsourced CFO clients.
- Operational Transition: Work closely with our current EA over the next 24 months to seamlessly absorb their client relationships and workflow responsibilities.
What We Are Looking For:
- Credentials: Active Enrolled Agent(EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, specifically managing a high volume of individual (Form 1040) and small business (Form 1120S, 1065, 1041, 990) returns.
- Software Proficiency: Deep familiarity with professional tax and accounting systems ( Drake Software, QBO/Desktop experience is highly preferred). Comfort utilizing practice management portals.
- Local Presence: A strong communicator who thrives in face-to-face client meetings and is dedicated to being a visible, trusted financial advisor in the New Albany community.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: An ambitious professional who wants to step away from the rigid corporate structure of traditional regional firms and wants a direct path to running and buying into a firm.
What we offer:
- Competitive base salary of $85,000 - $105,000 based upon experience.
- Generous tax season performance pool.
- Off-season flexible hours, in office and hybrid from home
- Paid professional licensing fees and CPE Allowances
- A structural, contractual timeline to firm partnership/ownership
Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
