Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field

Required Experience

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong C++ and object-oriented programming skills
  • Production-level application software development experience
  • Experience integrating complex software or hardware systems
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum and structured SDLC processes
  • Ability to quickly understand an existing codebase and work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience

  • Qt/QML, Linux, and/or Docker
  • Perforce, Jenkins, GitLab, Jira, and/or Jama
  • Unit testing, static code analysis, memory management, and code coverage tools
  • Experience with SAFe Agile
  • Background in robotics, medical devices, biomedical software, computer graphics, computational geometry, or computer-assisted surgery
  • Experience in regulated software development environments
  • Consulting/contracting experience with the ability to ramp up quickly

Overview

Seeking a Staff-level Application Software Engineer to develop PC-based applications supporting the client's Mako robotic surgery platform. The role involves software integration with the Mako robot, camera systems, and other subsystems. This is an application software role, not an embedded/firmware position.

Job Duties

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain C++ application software
  • Work with software interfacing with robotic, camera, and integrated systems
  • Understand existing architecture and contribute production-quality code
  • Write unit tests and participate in code reviews
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects using Jira
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, engineers, and SMEs
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum and SAFe activities
  • Create technical documentation and communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions
  • Follow established SDLC, quality, and regulatory processes
