Road Safety Services (RSS) is seeking an experienced Corporate Director of Accounting to serve as a key partner to the Corporate Controller and help lead accounting across our growing organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can both lead the accounting function and get into the details. You'll oversee critical close and reporting activities, develop accounting staff, partner with field accounting teams, strengthen processes and controls, and help support RSS as we continue to grow.

About Road Safety Services (RSS)

------------------------------------

Road Safety Services (RSS) is one of North America's leading providers of pavement marking and traffic control services. With operations across 23+ states and more than 50 locations, our operating companies help protect the traveling public by delivering critical roadway safety infrastructure.

Whether it's 500 feet or 500 miles, we get the job done safely, properly, and on time.

What You'll Do

------------------

  • Lead and support monthly close activities, including timelines, assignments, issue resolution, and completion.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial analyses.
  • Oversee general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple operating units.
  • Apply U.S. GAAP and RSS accounting policies consistently and research complex accounting issues as needed.
  • Review financial results, investigate material variances and unusual balances, and provide reliable reporting to the Corporate Controller.
  • Lead, coach, and develop assigned accounting staff while establishing priorities, accountability, and cross-training.
  • Partner with field accounting teams and operating leaders to resolve issues and improve consistency across the organization.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, cash management, and contract administration activities as assigned.
  • Coordinate assigned annual audit activities and maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation.
  • Strengthen internal controls, approval processes, documentation, and segregation of duties.
  • Support M&A integration and accounting-related initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes, systems, and reporting.

What We're Looking For

--------------------------

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or public accounting experience preferred.
  • Progressive accounting experience with responsibility for month-end close, general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research and resolve accounting issues.
  • Leadership experience managing accounting staff, reviewing work, developing employees, and driving accountability.
  • Ability to remain hands-on with detailed accounting work while leading others and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with general ledger and accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work across corporate and field teams in a multi-location organization.

Preferred Experience

------------------------

  • CPA designation and external financial statement audit experience.
  • Experience in a rapidly growing, decentralized, multi-entity or multi-location organization.
  • Experience standardizing accounting processes, improving internal controls, or supporting accounting system implementations.
  • M&A integration experience.

Work Location & Travel

---------------------------

This position is based at RSS corporate headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. Approximately 10–15% travel to operating locations is expected.

Flexibility outside normal business hours will be required during month-end close, annual audits, integrations, and other deadline-driven initiatives.

Why Join Road Safety Services?

  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Legal Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match and Immediate Vesting
  • Paid Time Off
  • Professional Development & Career Growth
  • Business Casual Work Environment
