About this role
About Rippling ------------------
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
About the role ------------------
At Rippling, Product turns deep technical infrastructure into simple, powerful products for our customers.
As Product
Lead for Reporting and Analytics, you will own the product experiences and platform foundations that help customers understand what is happening across their business and take action on it.
This role sits within Rippling’s Data Cloud strategy. Rippling brings together first-party, third-party, and customer-created data across HR, IT, Finance, Payroll, Recruiting, and external systems.
Your job is to make that data useful
We’re building an AI first, agentic analytics product. Customers should be able to ask questions in natural language, create and explore reports, understand what changed, and rely on agents to monitor important metrics and recommend next steps.
In this role you will be at the forefront of shaping the next generation of AI-powered analytics for both first party and third party application data in a single platform!
What you will do
--------------------
- Own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and execution for AI powered Reporting and Analytics within Rippling’s Data Cloud.
- Define how reporting works across Rippling, including AI-generated reports, agentic pro-active insights delivery, pre-built reports, customizable reports, and embedding reports in various surfaces of the overall Rippling app
- Lead the next generation of agentic analytics: answering questions, explaining trends, monitoring metrics, surfacing meaningful changes, and recommending actions.
- Partner with Data Catalog to ensure reporting experiences can understand the meaning of data, find the right source, and present trusted answers.
- Collaborate with product teams across Payroll, Recruiting, HR, IT, Finance, and other Rippling applications to understand reporting needs and identify platform patterns that should be solved centrally.
- Enable third-party developers and internal teams to define, package, and ship analytics products or reports for customers.
- Work closely with engineering teams in San Francisco and Seattle, as well as cross-functional partners across Product, Design, AI, Data Catalog, Developer Platform, and native application teams.
- Work directly with enterprise and mid-market customers to understand their reporting workflows, validate product direction, drive adoption, and measure customer value.
- Use AI in your own work every day to synthesize research, explore data, prototype experiences, draft requirements, and test ideas faster. Apply your judgment to verify outputs and make product decisions.
- Translate ambiguous customer and platform needs into clear jobs-to-be-done, product requirements, milestones, trade-offs, and launch plans.
What you will need
----------------------
- 5+ years of product management experience, with a track record of shipping complex B2B products to external customers.
- Deep experience in analytics, reporting, BI, data platforms, data products, or adjacent customer-facing data products.
- Experience building products customers paid for and used directly; internal-only data tooling, analytics implementation, or dashboard-building experience alone is not sufficient.
- Strong product judgment for data-heavy workflows, including how business users think about metrics, reports, permissions, data quality, and decision-making.
- Technical fluency in data modeling, querying, metrics, semantic layers, permissions, and platform trade-offs, with the ability to work deeply with engineering.
- Strong systems thinking and the ability to connect reporting needs across many products without creating one-off solutions for every team.
- Excellent customer and UX judgment, with the ability to make sophisticated analysis feel simple, intuitive, and trustworthy.
- AI fluency and curiosity, especially around how agents can investigate questions, monitor data, generate reports, explain insights, and recommend actions.
- Experience with agentic workflows or AI-powered analytics products is a strong plus, but not required.
- Ability to co-own problem framing and solution strategy with engineering and design partners, question assumptions from first principles, and resolve trade-offs constructively.
- Clear, concise communication skills, including the ability to explain technical product concepts to executives, engineers, customers, and non-technical users.
- High ownership and autonomy; you can ship reliably without day-to-day oversight and treat issues that threaten user or business impact as yours to help solve.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with limited resources, tight timelines, and high expectations for product quality.
- Alignment with Rippling’s leadership principles, especially pushing the limits of possible, challenging directly, and going and seeing customer problems firsthand.
