About this role

Resource Innovations is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Financial Analyst with a strong background in finance to join our dynamic and growing team.

In this role you will own recurring reporting, forecasting and variance analysis for assigned business units, build and maintain the financial models that support them, and partner with cross-functional teams to turn financial and operational data into actionable recommendations.

You will also help administer and enhance our Adaptive Planning and NetSuite environment and drive continuous improvement across the FP&A function’s planning, reporting, and month-end close processes.

Resource Innovations (RI) is a women-led energy transformation firm focused on four pillars: Climate Change, Equity, Innovation, and Scale & Impact. Building on our expertise in energy efficiency, we’re constantly expanding our portfolio of clean energy solutions to guide utilities through increasingly complex, connected challenges. Load flexibility.

Electrification. Carbon reduction. With every step, we’re leading the charge to power change.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Owns monthly reporting and variance analysis for assigned business units, including financial planning, budgeting and forecasting inputs.
  • Collaborates with business units and sales teams to incorporate metrics, forecasts and MD&A into monthly reporting.
  • Performs ad hoc financial analysis for business unit management.
  • Develops and maintains standardized reporting and dashboards for management.
  • Builds and maintains complex financial models and business unit financial reports.
  • Translates financial results and forecasts into clear, polished PowerPoint presentations for executive leadership, Board of Directors, and private equity investor reviews.
  • Supports month-end close processes and serves as a liaison between business units and corporate leadership.
  • Communicates proactively and effectively in both written and verbal form with stakeholders at all levels. Prepares and delivers clear, well-structured presentations of financial results, analysis and recommendations to business unit and corporate leadership, and surfaces issues, risks and findings without prompting.
  • Owns assigned modules and reporting within Adaptive Planning and NetSuite, including data integrity, structure maintenance, and user support for business unit stakeholders.
  • Identifies and implements improvements to recurring reporting, planning and close processes, including automation and standardization opportunities, without requiring direction.
  • Serves as documented backup for other FP&A deliverables and cross-trains with team members to ensure continuity of critical reporting during absences and peak cycles.
  • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of own work product prior to review.
  • Handles confidential compensation, M&A transaction and board-level information with discretion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Preference for candidates based in the Chicago metropolitan area. Candidates in other U.S. locations will be considered, provided their schedule provides substantial overlap with CST business hours and accommodates the extended hours that may be required during close, forecast and budget cycles.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA, CFA, CPA or CMA is a plus).
  • At least 3-5 years of FP&A experience is required, preferably in the utility, software, or professional services industry.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel, is required. Must be self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Interest in energy efficiency / sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Preferred Skills, Education & Experience

  • Experience with Adaptive Planning, NetSuite, Power BI, Tableau, and other financial and operating reporting tools is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and large-dataset manipulation, are strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting a PE-backed or high-growth company, including investor and lender reporting, is a plus.
  • Strong business partnering skills, with the ability to explain financial results to non-finance stakeholders, are preferred.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and perform in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is critical.
