Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring all departments (front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance, and guest services) run efficiently and deliver a high standard of guest experience. This role bridges strategic planning with hands-on management, ensuring the property meets brand standards, budget targets, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

• Oversee day-to-day hotel operations across front office, housekeeping, F&B, and maintenance
• Ensure adherence to brand/service standards and quality control procedures
• Monitor guest satisfaction scores and implement improvement plans
• Coordinate between departments to resolve operational issues quickly

Staff Leadership

• Supervise department heads and support hiring, training, and performance management
• Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage
• Foster a positive, service-oriented team culture
• Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews

Financial Oversight

• Manage operational budgets and control costs across departments
• Monitor revenue, occupancy rates, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Assist with forecasting and budget planning
• Approve purchase orders and manage vendor relationships

Guest Experience

• Handle escalated guest complaints and service recovery
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
• Conduct property walkthroughs to maintain quality and cleanliness standards

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with local labor laws, health codes, and safety regulations
• Oversee emergency preparedness procedures and staff training
• Maintain licensing, permits, and inspection readiness

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
• 3–5+ years of experience in hotel operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory/management role
• Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) such as FOSSE or Stay PMS

Skills

• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Financial acumen (budgeting, P&L management)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel management software

Other Requirements

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and respond to on-site emergencies
