Job description

About this role

The short version

Regenics is a health clinic and telehealth company based in Los Angeles: a nationwide telehealth platform for weight management, hormone optimization, peptides, and longevity care, plus a 5,000 sq ft health-optimization clinic in the West San Fernando Valley (moving to a new space in Woodland Hills). We are building our own platform, and we need one person to own it.

This is not a role on an engineering team. You are the engineering team. You report directly to the founder.

The platform is built with AI-assisted development, and you will work the same way: you direct the AI, you review everything it writes, and you own what ships. There is no Product Manager. You decide what ships and you ship it.

The honest state of things

The platform is a from-scratch rebuild on Cloudflare Workers that is already running in staging: about 36,000 lines of JavaScript, 50+ database migrations, 40+ Playwright end-to-end flows, a complete patient funnel, patient portal, provider workspace, back office, encrypted PHI, and first-party analytics. We built it fast, with AI, on a very small team, and it has never had a full-time owner.

Payments still run in mock mode, the pharmacy integration is a stub, and the systems it replaces (a WordPress site and a contractor-built platform) still carry live patients until we cut over. Your job is the last 20%: make it real, make it safe, and move the business onto it. Then keep it moving.

The stack

  • Cloudflare Workers (JavaScript), one Worker serving the site and the API
  • D1 (SQLite) with versioned migrations, KV for rate limiting, R2 for documents, Analytics Engine, Cron Triggers
  • Static multi-page front end: HTML and vanilla JS from a custom Node build, PWA with a service worker
  • Playwright for end-to-end QA
  • Authorize.net payments, Resend email, passkeys (WebAuthn), magic links, TOTP for staff
  • Per-record AES-GCM encryption for patient data, audit log on every PHI read and write

What you will own

  • The platform end to end: code, database, deploys, secrets, monitoring, uptime. When something breaks at 6 p.m. Friday, it's yours.
  • Provider prescribing logic: the review-and-approve flow that decides what gets prescribed. This is the most important code in the company and the first thing you'll be asked to get right.
  • Payments going live on Authorize.net, including refunds and the TRT prepay rules
  • Pharmacy integrations: 5–6 partner 503A pharmacies, routed by state and medication, most by API, some manual
  • Lab ordering (Quest) and charting sync (DrChrono)
  • Migrating patient and order data off WordPress and the previous platform, then the production cutover of regenics.com onto the new build
  • The member app: wrapping the platform for iOS and Android, with in-app purchasing
  • The in-platform sales CRM, fulfillment dashboard, and corporate-accounts dashboard
  • Delivery: the backlog, priorities, weekly status to the founder, and a small bench of contractors on milestones during the transition

First 90 days

  • Days 1–15: take over the repo, Cloudflare account, secrets, and deploys; stand up CI; review the provider prescribing logic line by line; take Authorize.net live
  • Days 15–30: first pharmacy API live; data migration plan executed; cutover rehearsed on staging
  • Days 30+: regenics.com cut over to the new platform; app wrapper in review; written recommendation to the founder on team shape and the six-month roadmap

You should have

  • 6+ years building and running JavaScript web applications in production, including payments
  • Serverless or edge experience: Cloudflare Workers ideal; Lambda, Vercel or Deno Deploy count. You'll be reviewing and extending a live Workers codebase from week one.
  • Shipped AI-generated code to production and can describe, specifically, where it fails and how you catch it
  • Taken over a codebase you didn't write and lived with it
  • Run a backlog and a release cycle for a small team without a PM
  • HIPAA or another regulated-data environment (fintech counts)
  • A track record at small companies where you were one of one to three engineers
  • Able to work on-site in Woodland Hills five days a week

Nice to have

  • Cloudflare D1, KV, R2, or Durable Objects in production
  • Healthcare integrations: pharmacy APIs, Quest or LabCorp, DrChrono or another EHR, telehealth video
  • Authorize.net
  • Shipping a web app to the App Store and Play Store (Capacitor, PWA wrappers, or native)
  • Data migration out of WordPress or WooCommerce

What you get

  • Base $120,000–$145,000 depending on experience, with a comp review after 90 days
  • Ownership of a real platform with real patients, not a feature on someone else's roadmap
  • Direct access to the founder and the business. No layers.
  • Health benefits, paid time off, and a clinic membership

How we hire

  • 30-minute call
  • Paid take-home on a sanitized copy of the actual platform, 4–8 hours, $600. AI tools welcome; we grade what you catch, not what you type.
  • On-site at the clinic: we review your take-home together, you pair live on a real ticket, and you meet the people you'll work with
  • Two references
  • Offer within 48 hours of the on-site

Whole process runs about one week.

To apply

Send your resume, a link to something you built that's live, and three sentences on the last time you took over someone else's code: what was wrong with it and what you fixed first. Applications without the three sentences won't be read.

Regenics is an equal opportunity employer.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • 401(k)
  • Employee discount
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off

Application Question(s):

  • When was the last time you took over someone else's code?
  • What was wrong with it?
  • What did you fix first?
