Data Center Infrastructure Engineer, Liquid Cooling - North/Central New Jersey (D86AF5B)
About this role
Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.
Referment is working with a global investment firm whose technology teams run firmwide critical infrastructure, including dedicated data centers and colocation facilities across North and Central New Jersey. They're recruiting a data center infrastructure engineer with a specialist focus on high-density liquid cooling and the hardware lifecycle that depends on it.
It's a technical, execution-focused role at the point where infrastructure design meets field operations: you'll take cooling and power architectures from specification through to working production capacity, and make sure the facilities can support increasingly dense hardware.
The Role
- Support the design and deployment of high-density infrastructure, carrying technical specifications through to field execution.
- Manage site capacity across power, cooling and space so deployments stay within operating limits and leave room to grow.
- Oversee vendors installing specialist infrastructure, checking that power delivery and thermal management meet operational requirements.
- Develop runbooks and validate new deployments, confirming power distribution, thermal balance and production readiness.
- Pilot and document next-generation cooling, including liquid-to-chip systems and secondary cooling loops, in lab and production environments.
- Keep monitoring and inventory records accurate so deployments integrate properly into alerting and DCIM systems, and provide senior technical support on complex hardware issues, from server diagnostics to secondary fluid system troubleshooting.
What We're Looking For
- Five or more years in data center operations or critical facility environments, with a record of owning technical work in high-uptime settings.
- Hands-on experience with direct liquid cooling architectures, including the risks, fluid management and maintenance they demand.
- Experience managing capacity and density, from power chains to thermal thresholds as hardware requirements evolve.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings to trace power delivery, spot thermal issues and hold external partners to specification.
- Systems administration fundamentals, including server hardware diagnostics, firmware management and familiarity with Linux or automation tooling.
- An analytical, inquisitive approach that relies on data and testing rather than assumptions, with the clear communication needed to work with global colleagues across varied projects.
This role is based onsite daily at the firm's New Jersey data center locations, with travel between facilities as needed and flexible working hours that can include evenings and weekends. You'll need reliable transportation and the ability to lift and move equipment up to 75 pounds.
This could suit a data center or critical facilities engineer with direct liquid cooling experience gained in colocation, high-performance computing or large enterprise environments. A financial services background is welcome but not required.
