Job description

About this role

Work inside a firehouse: Join a performance team embedded directly into fire departments across the Bay Area.

This role is not for everyone. It’s fast-paced and unstructured, like a training room.

This role is built for you if:

  • You’ve spent time in strength & conditioning, athletics, or performance environments
  • You enjoy the gym floor more than the treatment table
  • You’re comfortable training, coaching, and communicating in real time
  • You’re someone people naturally gravitate toward and trust quickly

Most of our team has backgrounds in collegiate and professional athletics, performance gyms, or high-level rehab settings — and wanted something more dynamic than a traditional clinic.

You’ll become a go-to resource inside the firehouse — not just for injuries, but for training, recovery, sleep, nutrition and overall performance.

The clinicians who succeed here aren’t just good at treatment — they’re able to simplify complex ideas, communicate clearly, and meet people where they’re at.

Cultural fit is critical. Your ability to build trust, read the room, and integrate into the firehouse environment will determine your success as much as your clinical skill.

We invest heavily in our team

That includes ongoing, paid training focused on clinical reasoning, communication, and navigating the firehouse environment, along with flexible scheduling that allows you to maintain your own training and lifestyle outside of work.

Important Note

We are actively expanding and building our team ahead of several upcoming contracts across the Bay Area.

This posting is intended to connect with high-quality clinicians early.

Immediate hours may be limited depending on timing, but candidates selected through this process will be prioritized as new locations open.

What you can expect:

  • Competitive hourly compensation
  • Highly unique, fun, and dynamic work environment
  • Flexible scheduling that supports your own lifestyle
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Ongoing paid development and mentorship
  • Direct impact on the health and performance of our community's firefighters

For clinicians working 20+ hours per week: PTO, floating Holidays, health/vision/dental insurance, and ConEd reimbursement.

What you’ll do:

  • Assess, treat, and manage injuries directly inside the firehouse
  • Design and implement strength & conditioning and rehab programs
  • Provide hands-on treatment and real-time coaching
  • Educate on injury prevention, recovery, and performance
  • Educate on nutrition, sleep, and other trendy topics
  • Communicate and collaborate with department personnel and medical teams
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, injuries, and treatments
  • Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in tactical physical therapy and firefighting wellness.

What sets you apart:

  • Background in strength & conditioning, athletics, or performance training
  • Experience with tactical populations (fire, police, military) or high-level athletes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to connect quickly with people
  • Confidence operating independently in a dynamic environment

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited institution.
  • CPR AED certified.
  • Valid CA state licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

If this type of environment excites you and you’re interested in being part of a growing model of physical therapy, we’d love to connect.

Pay: $70.00 - $85.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Continuing education credits
  • Dental insurance
  • Flexible schedule
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Travel reimbursement
  • Vision insurance

Work Location: On the road
