About Reagan Landscapes
Reagan Landscapes is a growing landscape construction company serving the greater Charlotte area. We specialize in commercial and residential landscape construction, site improvements, hardscapes, irrigation, and large-scale development projects.
As our company continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented accounting professional to join our team. We need someone who understands accounting beyond basic data entry, is confident working in QuickBooks, and is willing to take on new challenges as our business evolves.
Position Overview
The Senior Accounting Specialist will work directly with our Controller to support daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and various administrative and operational responsibilities.
The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on QuickBooks experience, strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
This is a versatile position where responsibilities may extend beyond traditional accounting. We're looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, learning new processes, and stepping in wherever needed to help keep our company running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Controller with daily accounting operations and accurate financial recordkeeping.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
- Support accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payment processing, and account reconciliations.
- Support accounts receivable, customer payments, and outstanding balances.
- Prepare and review journal entries and investigate discrepancies in QuickBooks.
- Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures and financial statements.
- Help prepare internal financial reports and support cash flow tracking.
- Assist with accurate allocation of expenses to projects and departments.
- Gather documentation for tax preparation, audits, and compliance requirements.
- Document and improve accounting procedures as the company grows.
- Coordinate with the Controller and other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
- Assist with fleet administration, including vehicle records, registrations, and related documentation as needed.
- Support safety compliance and administrative recordkeeping, including tracking required documentation and company procedures.
- Take on additional accounting, administrative, and operational responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, including reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations.
- Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies independently.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism when handling confidential financial information.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn new systems and take on responsibilities outside traditional accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience with increasing responsibility.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience preparing financial statements and assisting with month-end closing.
- Experience with project-based accounting or job costing.
- Experience working with a Controller or Accounting Manager.
- Experience with fleet administration, safety compliance, or general business operations.
Construction industry experience is a plus but is not required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone dependable, proactive, and genuinely knowledgeable about accounting. Someone who understands what the numbers mean, recognizes when something doesn't look right, and knows how to investigate and correct issues.
Just as importantly, we want someone who isn't afraid to jump into something new. Our company is constantly growing and evolving, and this position may involve a wide variety of responsibilities beyond accounting.
The right person will be organized, resourceful, adaptable, and willing to tackle new challenges with a positive attitude.
Why Join Reagan Landscapes?
- Competitive salary starting at $60,000+, depending on experience.
- Established and growing company with a diverse project portfolio.
- Opportunity to work directly with experienced company leadership.
- Variety of accounting, administrative, and operational responsibilities.
