About the Company
Our client is an AI software company helping chemistry and materials science teams accelerate research and development. Its platform unifies scientific workflows and applies AI to complex enterprise work. Scientists in more than 30 countries use the platform.
The company has publicly announced more than $45M in funding, including a growth investment led by J.P. Morgan Private Capital.
About the Role
Join as one of the first Agent Product Managers to turn an existing AI platform into capabilities customers use and pay for. Work between core product teams and forward-deployed scientists, with substantial individual ownership. This is a full-time hybrid role, requiring one to two days a week in Oakland, California.
You will not manage a fixed engineering team; engineers are available when needed.
What You Will Do
- Own agent skills from discovery through delivery for chemistry and materials science R&D workflows.
- Write, test and improve prompts, skills and evaluations yourself, partnering with core AI teams when needed.
- Map enterprise customer workflows and identify valuable automation opportunities with forward-deployed scientists.
- Turn platform features such as MCP connectors, multi-agent orchestration, artifacts and memory into repeatable customer-facing capabilities.
- Ship in fast project-based cycles, often owning an initiative for about a month before moving to the next.
- Use AI daily for working practices and rapid prototyping, and help establish agent playbooks and evaluation standards.
What We Are Looking For
- Typically four to seven years in product management shipping B2B software to external customers, with recent hands-on AI product work.
- Experience taking AI-powered products, agents, copilots or assistants to market, beyond internal tooling.
- Hands-on fluency with prompts, evaluations and agent skills.
- Vertical SaaS, enterprise B2B or specialist-industry product experience, including zero-to-one development.
- Strong customer discovery, workflow mapping, ownership and adaptability.
- Daily use of AI in professional work and prototyping.
- Ability to attend the Oakland office one to two days a week.
- A science background or personal AI projects are helpful. Specific university pedigree is not required.
- This role focuses on applying an AI platform, rather than managing infrastructure; a purely internal or consumer-product background is less aligned.
Tools
AI agents, agent skills, prompt engineering, LLM evaluations, MCP connectors, multi-agent orchestration, artifact and code generation, agent memory and AI prototyping. Python or React expertise is not required.
Compensation and Benefits
$200,000-$230,000 USD base salary plus competitive equity. Visa sponsorship and transfers are not part of the standard hiring policy. Relocation support is not offered.
Why Join
Take ownership of customer-facing AI capabilities in a fast-moving scientific software company. Work directly with product leaders, scientists and enterprise customers, and help define how applied agent products deliver measurable value.
