Product Manager, Founder in Training Program | Playbook Sports

About Playbook

Playbook Sports empowers sports entrepreneurs to grow and automate their businesses, enabling them to make a bigger impact in their communities. With over 500 partners across the United States and Canada, we provide modern software that helps sports facilities, leagues, and clubs streamline operations and boost revenue.

We're building the operating system for sports and activity organizations, the system of record and action that runs their business, with AI woven into how it works.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role for a builder who wants real ownership fast. You'll work closely with our CEO and CTO, alongside our Senior Product Manager, COO, and development team, to ship features, launch AI-powered tools, and get partners live on the platform. You won't be driving the bus alone, but you'll own real pieces of the product from day one and have a direct voice in the roadmap.

Over 18 months, you'll learn how a fast-growing software company runs from the inside. By the end of the program, you'll move into a permanent role that fits your strengths and goals. Our entire senior product and leadership team has been promoted from within, and this role offers real upside in both equity and career growth.

Who We're Looking For

  • Early-career talent, including recent graduates, people a few years into their careers, and career switchers who are determined to break into sports and tech
  • A genuine interest in product management, technology, and sports or entrepreneurship
  • Sharp problem-solvers who break down messy problems and follow through
  • People who are curious about AI tools and excited to put them to practical use
  • Strong communicators who can work with developers, partners, and executives
  • A bias for action: you get things done, learn quickly, and take ownership without waiting to be asked
  • Alignment with the compensation range for an associate-level role
  • Comfortable working without a clear roadmap and figuring things out as you go, including picking up technical concepts quickly.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

What You'll Do

Ship Product

  • Own defined features and projects from spec to launch, working directly with developers and QA
  • Write clear specs and JIRA tickets, and keep sprints moving and work on track
  • Run QA and testing on releases, and help triage and prioritize bugs
  • Support product discovery and customer research, and bring what you learn back to the team
  • Contribute ideas and input to quarterly roadmaps, and help execute against them

Put AI to Work

  • Help build and launch AI-powered features and workflows across the platform
  • Prototype and test new tools with real partners, and measure what works
  • Use AI to speed up internal workflows, documentation, and training
  • Use AI to be a well-rounded builder: ideate a concept, document it, and develop it yourself. If you can take an idea from rough concept to working prototype with AI tools, that's a major plus

Partner Onboarding and Implementation

  • Guide new partners through onboarding: discovery, setup, data migration, configuration, and go-live
  • Deliver product training and hands-on guidance so partners see quick wins early
  • Build playbooks, documentation, and resources that make onboarding faster and repeatable
  • Track onboarding metrics and partner satisfaction

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales for smooth client handoffs
  • Share structured partner feedback with Product and Engineering
  • Work with Marketing and Support on training and self-service content

Program Highlights

  • Real ownership, early:

You'll own meaningful work from the start, with the support and guidance of senior leaders.

  • Direct access to leadership:

You'll work closely with the CEO and CTO and have a voice in what gets built.

  • Learn by doing:

You'll see every side of the business, from product and engineering to sales, onboarding, and customer success.

  • Accelerated career path:

Our flat, meritocratic culture means your ideas have impact from day one, and we have a proven record of promoting top talent.

  • Financial upside:

Meaningful equity options, so you share in the growth you help create.

  • Sports-centric culture:

Sports are part of our identity, from games on the office TVs to VIP outings at NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLS events.

Why Playbook?

You'll join a passionate, mission-driven, fast-growing team where your work directly affects the success of thousands of businesses across the United States and Canada.

If you want to launch your career by getting hands-on experience at a rapidly accelerating tech startup, and work alongside an engineering and leadership team that's incredibly excited about reshaping the future of how youth sports is operated, Playbook is the place for you.

If you believe you're the right person for this opportunity, I'd love to hear from you personally at josh.marcus@callplaybook.com.
