Freelance Designer

Job Summary

We’re seeking a technically focused Freelance Graphic Designer to create proofs and other documentation for signage production. Ideally the candidate will line in the Colorado Springs or Denver area and will visit the shop quarterly for paid training and collaboration.

Our project management team will send packages of photos, logos and job scope details for proofing, permit document, vendor art and prepress file creation. We are a full service sign shop-we offer vehicle, wall and window vinyl, office signage and ADA as well as exterior building and freestanding signage.

Ultimately your design work will turn into signage that will be installed! We are looking for a technically minded designer who has production and installation at top of mind while designing.

We will provide training on the technical information we will need in each type of file. The Graphic Designer must be willing to collaborate by phone and email with our production management team to work out the details of each scope.

In shop or virtual training on the vinyl printer and cutter will be mandatory so your can fully visualize the requirements for proof and prepress files.

We are willing to train a candidate who had experience with Adobe Illustrator and shows potential to learn the signage industry standards.

Expected turn around time from request to finished file is 1-3 business day depending on the complexity of job scope requirements. Some client some client consultation will be required for more complex jobs.

Duties

• All files must be Vector art
• Develop designs for 3/4 and full vehicle wraps
• Design large scale deigns for wall murals.
• Occasional layout of construction documents for builds such as monument signs.
• Created detailed customer proofs that include scaling, measurements and ample product details.

Proof types include

Vehicle vinyl, Window and wall vinyl, Office signage and ADA, Exterior building and freestanding signage.

• Build permit documentation documents according to our checklists
• Convert approved proof into prepress files for the vinyl printer and production art files for our vendors
• Your Goals: To design with the end product of produced signage in mind at each step. Be willing to communicate often with the project management team to ensure accuracy in the transfer of information. Capacity to learn the standards of the sign industry to deliver technically accurate files for production.

Qualifications

• Professional design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating graphic design, digital design, print design, and production design.
• Technical proficiency with graphic design software-Photoshop and Illustrator. Familiarity with Onyx is a plus!
• Knowledge of color theory, layout for large scale printing, and print file preparation.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate well is essential for success in this position.

Depending to skill level we can discuss hourly or project based pay. Hours are flexible but turn around time and prompt attention to emails and phone requests are critical.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week
