Healthcare Human Resources Generalist

• Work Arrangement: Onsite at 19210 Jamboree Rd Irvine, CA 92612
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PST
• Maximum Pay Rate: $35/hour to $42/hour
• Contract Length : 1 year and Temp to hire

Position Overview

UCI Human Resources supports the university's diverse workforce across three major business units: Health (Academic Hospitals and Community Network), the College of Health Sciences, and Main Campus.

The HR Generalist serves as a trusted HR partner to employees, managers, and organizational leadership, providing comprehensive human resources support across employee relations, policy interpretation, performance management, compliance, and general HR operations.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a large organization, strong customer service skills, and the ability to independently address a broad range of HR matters while ensuring consistent application of organizational policies and employment regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of direct human resources experience across varied HR functions.
• Demonstrated experience working in a large organization with approximately 300–500 or more employees.
• Strong HR Generalist experience, including employee relations, policy interpretation, and corrective-action documentation.
• Experience advising managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate employee relations matters, document findings, and recommend appropriate action.
• Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in an HR Generalist position within a large organization.
• Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), supporting unionized workforces, or handling employee grievances.
• Experience preparing written disciplinary notices, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and investigation documentation.
• Experience in higher education, healthcare, public-sector, or similarly complex organizational environments.
• Familiarity with HRIS platforms and employee records management.

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
