Senior Systems Engineer

Pileum Corporation is a Systems Integration and Technology Consulting firm serving clients throughout the Southeast, with offices in Jackson, Mississippi; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Nashville, Tennessee.

We are seeking an experienced **Senior Systems Engineer located in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi area** to join our engineering team. This position will work primarily remotely while providing both remote and onsite technical services to Pileum clients. Travel to client locations will be required as needed for implementations, troubleshooting, assessments, and other project work.

The Senior Systems Engineer will design, implement, troubleshoot, and support a broad range of client infrastructure technologies, including servers, networking, virtualization, cloud services, security solutions, and related systems. This position will also serve as a senior technical resource for complex issues and lead infrastructure implementation and consulting projects.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting complex environments, leading technical engagements, communicating directly with clients, and taking ownership of projects from planning through implementation and documentation.

Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure is a plus, as are relevant technical certifications.

Duties \& Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, troubleshoot, and support client server and infrastructure environments.
• Configure and support Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and other core infrastructure technologies.
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise networks, including routing, switching, wireless, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Implement and support virtualization platforms and associated server and storage infrastructure.
• Support cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Lead technical implementation and consulting projects, working directly with clients, project managers, vendors, and other Pileum resources.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex systems, networking, infrastructure, and security\-related issues.
• Evaluate client environments and develop practical technical recommendations based on business requirements and industry best practices.
• Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, replacements, and modernization projects.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, implementation plans, and deployment documentation.
• Incorporate security best practices into infrastructure designs and implementations.
• Assist with technical discovery, solution design, scoping, and pre\-sales activities as needed.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineering and support resources when appropriate.
• Travel to client locations as required for implementations, troubleshooting, assessments, and other onsite services.

Knowledge, Skills \& Abilities

• Strong experience supporting and implementing server, network, and infrastructure technologies in business environments.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and related network technologies.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper\-V.
• Understanding of storage, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity technologies.
• Working knowledge of infrastructure and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues that span multiple technologies and vendors.
• Ability to assess an existing environment, identify technical needs, and develop appropriate recommendations.
• Ability to develop infrastructure designs, hardware/software requirements, bills of materials, and implementation plans.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem\-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues and projects through completion.
• Strong organizational and time\-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non\-technical client contacts.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to provide technical direction to other resources.
• Ability to support pre\-sales efforts and translate client requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred Experience \& Certifications

Experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, and Entra ID is a plus but is not required. Experience with technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto, VMware, Microsoft, and other enterprise infrastructure providers is beneficial.

Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or other relevant industry certifications are also a plus.

Requirement: Candidates should reside in or near the Hattiesburg, Mississippi area. This is primarily a remote position, but proximity to Hattiesburg is required to support client locations onsite as needed.

Pay: $84,073\. 34 \- $101,249\. 62 per year
