Job description
About this role
Level 2 Systems Engineer
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000
Location: In Office Only
About the Role
We are seeking a Level 2 Systems Engineer to join our Managed Services team. This role serves as the bridge between Level 1 support and Level 3 engineering, handling escalated technical issues, supporting project delivery, and helping develop less experienced technicians. You’ll work across a variety of client environments and technologies, taking ownership of issues that require deeper troubleshooting and technical knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved by Level 1 technicians.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows, Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, workstation, and server-related issues.
- Assist Level 3 engineers with project implementation, migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure deployments.
- Monitor client environments and proactively identify issues before they impact business operations.
- Build trusted relationships with clients by providing clear communication and practical technical guidance.
- Maintain accurate documentation and create knowledge base articles to improve team efficiency.
- Mentor and support Level 1 technicians by sharing knowledge and assisting with escalated issues.
- Participate in system maintenance, patching, security improvements, and operational best practices.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and continually improve technical skills.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of IT support, systems administration, or MSP experience.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, and troubleshooting end-user environments.
- Basic to intermediate experience with Azure administration and cloud technologies.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switching, and wireless networking.
- Experience with PowerShell and automation is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
What We're Looking For
- The successful candidate takes ownership, enjoys solving problems others cannot, and knows how to work through unfamiliar issues methodically.
- You should thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle frequent context switching well, and stay effective when multiple priorities compete for your attention.
- We value good technical judgment, clear client communication, strong troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to share knowledge with the rest of the team.
