About this role

The opportunity

Bloomfield Hills, MI · Onsite with flexible hybrid · $80,000–$110,000 + performance bonus

We're looking for an experienced CPA who wants more than a busy season. You'll own sophisticated tax engagements for business owners and high-net-worth families, work directly with clients, and grow into a Tax Manager and senior leadership role.

If you produce signature-ready work, like solving real problems for real people, and want a firm that invests in technology and support so you can focus on the work that matters, read on.

About Pagac & Company

Pagac & Company, P.C. has served closely held businesses and high-net-worth families since 1975. We're a second-generation firm with deep technical roots and a forward-looking way of working.

We position ourselves as proactive advisors, not compliance processors. Our clients get CFO-level thinking, and our people get to do that kind of work.

We're fully cloud-based. We use AI-assisted research tools and digital workflows, and we invest in marketing and dedicated administrative support so tax professionals spend their time on technical work, advisory services, and client relationships.

Who you'll work with

Our client base has real depth, built over decades in specialized industries:

  • Manufacturers and distributors
  • Commercial real estate and mobile home parks, including investors with multi-entity structures
  • Professional services firms and entrepreneurial, closely held businesses
  • High-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and estates with complex, multistate returns

You'll see partnership K-1 stacks, basis work, entity planning, and transactions, not just routine compliance.

What you'll do

  • Prepare and review complex federal and multistate returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, individuals, trusts, and estates
  • Deliver tax planning and advisory work, and research issues into practical answers clients can act on
  • Manage and review engagements
  • Own client relationships and communicate directly with business owners and families
  • Help improve our processes and contribute to firm growth

What you bring

Required

  • Active CPA license
  • Generally 7+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Strong command of business, complex individual, real estate, multi-entity, and multistate taxation
  • Experience preparing and reviewing multistate business and individual returns
  • Ability to run engagements and deadlines independently and deliver signature-ready work

Preferred

  • MST
  • UltraTax CS, Thomson Reuters CS Professional Suite, QuickBooks Online, and cloud workflow systems (comparable platforms considered)
  • Genuine interest in AI tools, technology, and process improvement

Above all, we want someone who communicates clearly, solves problems, and wants to build something with a team of experienced professionals.

Compensation, benefits, and schedule

Base salary of $80,000–$110,000, depending on experience, technical capability, and responsibility, plus performance bonus opportunities.

Work arrangement
