About this role
Padova Technologies is a woman-owned small business that designs, builds, integrates, and tests custom IT solutions, including high-performance computing, embedded systems, and enterprise IT, for Federal and DoD customers.
As a Solutions Engineer, you'll be the technical lead on customer engagements from discovery through deployment and optimization. You'll translate complex requirements into scalable solutions, working closely with customers, our engineering team, and our OEM partners. You'll also serve as the technical advisor to our sales team, configuring each system so they know exactly how to quote it.
We're looking for a hands-on engineer with deep HPE, Dell, and Cisco configuration experience who can work independently in complex environments and represent Padova with professionalism, technical credibility, and a customer-first approach.
Customer Engagement & Delivery
- Lead technical discovery to understand mission requirements, existing infrastructure, operational constraints, and modernization goals.
- Architect complete server, storage, networking, and workstation solutions aligned to customer requirements and federal operating environments.
- Build and validate HPE, Dell, and Cisco configurations using OEM configuration tools; recommend alternates for discontinued, long-lead, or non-compliant components.
- Develop migration and implementation plans and support deployment with Padova's engineering team and customer IT staff.
- Troubleshoot configuration, compatibility, and integration issues across compute, storage, and networking.
- Produce clear documentation, including implementation plans, configuration guides, diagrams, and as-built records, and lead knowledge transfer to customer teams.
- Review deployed solutions and recommend performance and configuration improvements.
Presales & Technical Advisory
- Serve as the technical advisor to Padova's sales team, configuring each system and providing a validated bill of materials so they know exactly what to quote.
- Review quotes and proposals for technical accuracy before they go to the customer.
- Support solution validation, whiteboarding, demonstrations, proof-of-concept planning, and technical responses to RFIs and RFPs.
- Engage partner OEMs and distributors to validate architectures, confirm compatibility, and secure pricing and availability.
- Explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advise customers on infrastructure modernization, virtualization, HPC and GPU computing, and data center considerations.
Core Technical Skills
- Compute: HPE ProLiant and Dell PowerEdge servers, including GPUs, RAID, and iLO/iDRAC.
- Storage: SAN, NAS, and direct-attached storage on HPE and Dell platforms.
- Networking: Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching, routing, VLANs, and high availability.
- Virtualization & OS: VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server, and Linux.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years in a solutions engineer, sales engineer, systems engineer, or similar technical presales role.
- Proven experience architecting and configuring HPE ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, and Cisco networking solutions.
- Experience supporting migrations and deployments and producing clear technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements, and communicate clearly in writing and in person.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and CRM systems.
- U.S. citizenship required. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Federal Civilian, DoD, IC, or other public sector customers.
- HPE ATP/ASE, Dell Proven Professional, or Cisco CCNA/CCNP certifications.
- Experience with HPC, GPU-accelerated (NVIDIA), or Supermicro platforms.
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-171, or other federal security requirements.
Benefits
- Health and dental insurance, Health Savings Account, and paid time off
- 401(k) with matching contributions, profit sharing, and quarterly bonuses
