Job description

About this role

At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we're building some of the world's largest AI clusters and accelerating the delivery of next-generation infrastructure to market. Our AI Infrastructure organization is at the forefront of designing, deploying, and managing the advanced hardware platforms that power high-performance GPU, CPU, and storage clusters for OCI customers.

Our hardware engineering organization is responsible for the physical infrastructure supporting these platforms, including servers, networking, storage, power, cooling, and rack-scale optimization. This encompasses component- and system-level validation, hardware reliability, lifecycle management, and establishing platform standards to ensure operational excellence and best-in-class availability.

As Senior Director, Product Management – Hardware Engineering (AI Infrastructure), you will lead the hardware program organization responsible for the build, configuration, delivery, and integration of next-generation hardware platforms. You will collaborate with leading AI technology partners and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver infrastructure solutions at exceptional speed, scale, and reliability.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished hardware systems leader with extensive experience in board design, systems integration, reliability engineering, and data center hardware operations. You will bring strong technical judgment, strategic vision, and the ability to lead geographically distributed teams through complex engineering challenges.

Success in this role requires balancing technical priorities, organizational objectives, and execution timelines while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Leadership & Cultural Development

  • Define and communicate a long-term technical roadmap aligned with OCI's broader AI infrastructure objectives, driving alignment across hardware engineering, software, and data center operations.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, geographically distributed engineering organization, fostering technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and psychological safety.
  • Identify, develop, and empower emerging technical leaders, strengthening organizational capabilities and supporting long-term team growth.
  • Serve as a key technical and organizational leader for complex hardware program decisions, influencing cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership.

Navigate high-pressure, resource-constrained environments by balancing engineering priorities, supply chain considerations, business objectives, and delivery commitments.

*

Risk Management & Operational Resilience

  • Establish proactive risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate technical, operational, and program risks before they impact critical delivery milestones.
  • Anticipate and address supply chain constraints, component-level technical challenges, and hardware integration complexities that could affect platform availability or delivery.
  • Lead the development and execution of end-to-end hardware reliability strategies, incorporating data-driven root cause analysis (RCA), failure analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Establish mechanisms to capture and apply lessons learned from hardware failures and operational challenges to improve platform quality, availability, and long-term resilience.

Develop and maintain contingency plans for critical hardware programs, enabling teams to respond rapidly to technical challenges, changing priorities, and evolving market conditions without compromising quality or delivery commitments.

*

Hardware Engineering & Program Execution

  • Oversee the end-to-end design, validation, integration, deployment, and lifecycle management of complex hardware platforms operating at hyperscale.
  • Establish and maintain hardware engineering standards, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance in collaboration with global engineering and operational teams.
  • Drive successful execution of large-scale hardware programs, ensuring delivery against technical requirements, program milestones, quality expectations, and budget objectives.
  • Partner closely with software, firmware, operations, supply chain, and data center engineering organizations to optimize hardware platforms for demanding AI and high-performance computing workloads.

Lead cross-functional efforts to improve hardware platform reliability, availability, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness throughout the product lifecycle.

*

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of technical experience in hardware engineering, hardware systems development, or related technical disciplines.
  • 7+ years of experience managing hardware engineering or hardware platform teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical organizations and geographically distributed engineering teams.

Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and program management skills, with the ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders.

*

Additional Qualifications

  • Significant experience delivering highly available hardware systems on schedule and within budget.
  • Expertise in hardware design, board-level engineering, system integration, hardware qualification, and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Deep technical understanding of server hardware subsystems, including GPUs, CPUs, memory, PCIe, Ethernet/InfiniBand networking, and storage technologies.
  • Experience with data center hardware reliability, failure analysis, and root cause investigation.
  • Working knowledge of power delivery, cooling technologies, and rack-level architecture in hyperscale data center environments.
  • Experience collaborating with software, firmware, manufacturing, and data center operations teams throughout the hardware development lifecycle.
  • Strong experience with high-performance computing (HPC), GPU-based systems, and large-scale AI infrastructure platforms.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements and country-specific hardware compliance standards.
