About this role
Residential HVAC Installation Operations Manager Arnold, MD $104,000-$114,000 per year + Benefits Full-Time | Monday-Friday
You know how an HVAC installation should go.
The equipment is correct. The materials are ready. The crew understands the scope.
Potential issues were caught before anyone pulled into the driveway. The workmanship meets company standards, and the customer receives what they were promised.
A growing HVAC contractor near Annapolis is conducting a confidential search for a Residential HVAC Installation Operations Manager who can make that level of preparation and consistency the standard across the installation department.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has spent enough time in residential HVAC to recognize problems, coach installers, organize work, and make sound technical decisions. You'll be responsible for creating structure behind the scenes while also serving as a resource for the team in the field.
Your Mission
Your primary goal will be to build an installation operation that is organized, prepared, accountable, and technically strong.
That includes three major areas
Prepare the Work
Before a project reaches the installation crew, you will review the sold job and make sure the team has what it needs to be successful. You'll examine job information and photos, verify scope, identify materials, clarify questions with sales, and catch discrepancies before they reach the customer.
Lead the Team
You'll oversee lead installers and apprentices, establish expectations, monitor their performance, coach employees when improvement is needed, and help develop a formal training structure for the installation department.
Protect Quality and Profitability
Mistakes, missing materials, poor communication, and preventable callbacks cost time and money. You'll help prevent them by creating better processes, checking job accuracy, tracking results, and holding the department to consistent installation standards.
A Typical Week May Include
- Reviewing upcoming installations and confirming job readiness.
- Reviewing pictures, job notes, sold-system information, ductwork requirements, and project specifications.
- Creating or reviewing detailed work orders for installation crews.
- Determining material and equipment needs.
- Coordinating installation schedules with sales, customers, and field personnel.
- Answering technical questions from installers.
- Checking completed work for accuracy and quality.
- Coaching a lead installer on workmanship or productivity expectations.
- Training or helping establish training plans for apprentices.
- Following up on callbacks and identifying their root causes.
- Monitoring department KPIs and identifying areas needing improvement.
- Improving workflows and processes as the company expands its use of ServiceTitan.
- Addressing customer concerns when an installation does not go according to plan.
The original Installation Manager role was specifically designed to connect office and field operations and ensure that what was sold could be delivered correctly by the installation team.
You Could Be a Strong Fit If You:
- Have substantial residential HVAC installation experience.
- Understand equipment applications, installation practices, duct systems, and residential airflow.
- Can read and work with duct calculations and lay out residential ductwork.
- Understand how to review an HVAC job before it reaches an installer.
- Have led people and are comfortable setting expectations and following up on performance.
- Are highly organized and naturally notice details other people miss.
- Can move between technical problems, scheduling needs, employee questions, and customer concerns without losing track of priorities.
- Believe training and accountability should go together.
- Can communicate effectively with installers, salespeople, office staff, and homeowners.
- Are comfortable using technology and learning systems such as ServiceTitan.
- Want to improve a department rather than simply maintain the status quo.
What Matters Here
We're looking for someone who is clean, organized, technically knowledgeable, and team-focused. This individual should be able to lead people while also understanding the work well enough to earn credibility with experienced installers. Those technical and organizational qualities were specifically emphasized during the client orientation.
BenefitsEmployee Support
The company offers a strong overall benefits package, including:
- Employer-paid employee medical coverage.
- Dependent medical coverage available.
- Dental insurance.
- Vision insurance.
- Paid vacation.
- Paid holidays.
- Paid sick leave.
- 401(k) company contribution.
- Company-paid life insurance.
- Short-term disability.
- Long-term disability.
- Company uniforms.
This is a company that values long-term employees and wants this manager to help create better processes, stronger training, and a high-performing installation team-not simply keep the schedule moving.
