Position Summary

The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software systems that support organizational operations and user needs. This role translates business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and reliable applications.

The Software Engineer contributes to system performance, quality, and long-term maintainability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver effective technology solutions.

Position Scope

This position operates within the Software and Innovation function and supports the development and maintenance of internal and external software systems. The Software Engineer works closely with product managers, designers, QA teams, and other engineers to deliver solutions that align with organizational goals.

The role contributes to system architecture, feature development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of applications across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Software Engineer designs and develops software applications based on business needs, writing clean, maintainable code while ensuring system performance, scalability, and stability.
  • This role includes troubleshooting issues, optimizing functionality, participating in code reviews, and contributing to system improvements, architecture, and security practices.
  • The Software Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions, supports testing, deployments, and documentation, monitors application performance, and assists with integrations, process improvements, and technical support as needed.

Regulatory Frameworks

This role operates in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, as well as organizational policies related to data security, privacy, and system integrity. Systems supporting healthcare services must align with applicable standards, including HIPAA where relevant.

Confidentiality

The Software Engineer is required to maintain strict confidentiality of all company, employee, and participant information, including system data, proprietary code, and internal processes, in accordance with company policies and applicable privacy regulations.

Documentation Requirements

  • Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including code comments, system architecture documentation, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Proper documentation must support system maintenance, compliance, and knowledge transfer.

Certifications

Relevant technical certifications (e.g., cloud platforms, programming languages, or development frameworks) are preferred but not required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in software development or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in collaborative development environments and delivering production-level applications is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar), understanding of software development principles and design patterns, experience with version control systems, familiarity with databases and APIs, and knowledge of system architecture and performance optimization.
  • Experience with modern development frameworks and tools is preferred.

Languages

English is required. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Driver License

A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Travel Requirement

Minimal travel may be required for job fairs, hiring events, or team meetings, as business needs dictate.
