About this role

Oak Health | Oviedo, Florida

Help shape the next stage of care at Oak Health.

We are seeking a Florida autonomously registered nurse practitioner to help grow primary-care services within our multidisciplinary practice as we work toward expanding into commercial insurance. This opportunity is well suited to an NP who values clinical independence, thoughtful teamwork, and the chance to help build a developing service.

Commercial insurance experience is a major selection priority. Orthopedic or musculoskeletal experience is highly desirable, particularly experience managing common MSK concerns within primary care.

THE ROLE

  • Evaluate and manage common acute and chronic primary-care conditions within your education, certification, and authorized scope.
  • Assess common musculoskeletal complaints, provide appropriate conservative care, and recognize when specialty referral or urgent evaluation is needed.
  • Order and review appropriate diagnostic testing and prescribe treatment within applicable authority.
  • Provide preventive care, patient education, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate care with other members of the practice and outside specialists.
  • Complete timely clinical documentation supporting medical necessity and accurate insurance billing.
  • Help develop practical workflows for patient access, follow-up, and insurance-based care.

The role is centered on primary care. Final duties will be agreed upon; any procedural duties require separate review and agreement before inclusion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active, unencumbered Florida APRN license and active Florida autonomous-practice registration.
  • Current national NP certification appropriate to the agreed patient population and duties.
  • Experience providing primary care and exercising sound independent clinical judgment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and care-coordination skills.
  • Willingness to participate in payer credentialing and enrollment processes.

EXPERIENCE WE ESPECIALLY VALUE

  • Treating commercially insured patients and working with insurance billing workflows.
  • Familiarity with medical-necessity documentation, coding support, prior authorizations, referrals, and payer requirements.
  • Current payer participation or prior experience completing credentialing and group enrollment.
  • Orthopedic/MSK experience applicable to primary-care assessment and treatment.
  • Interest in helping a multidisciplinary practice grow thoughtfully.

PAY AND SCHEDULE

$80 per hour for the initial half-day shift. Exact day and hours to be agreed upon. Opportunity for additional hours as patient demand grows; compensation for an expanded schedule will be discussed separately.

Our goal is to grow toward a full-time role as demand supports it; additional hours and full-time employment are not guaranteed.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit your résumé, availability, Florida autonomous-registration status, and a brief description of your primary-care, MSK, and commercial insurance experience. Please include responses to the insurance checklist below.

INSURANCE PARTICIPATION CHECKLIST

Which insurers are you currently credentialed or in-network with? Select all that apply and identify pending applications separately.

☐ Florida Blue / BCBS

☐ UnitedHealthcare / Optum

☐ Aetna

☐ Cigna

☐ Humana

☐ AvMed

☐ Medicare

☐ Other: ______

☐ Applications pending

☐ None or unsure

For EACH selected insurer, provide the specific network or plan/product, whether participation is active or pending (or credentialing is complete but contracting is incomplete), and whether participation is individual or through an employer/group. Include the applicable group, location, and effective date if known. For pending applications, provide the submission date and current stage.

For Medicare, distinguish Original Medicare enrollment from Medicare Advantage plan participation.

Oak Health is evaluating and developing its insurance participation. This list does not represent confirmed Oak Health contracts. Existing credentialing does not automatically transfer to Oak.

Before treating patients as in-network at Oak, we must verify affiliation under Oak's tax ID, group NPI, location, specific plan/network, and effective date.

Please also describe your experience billing commercial insurance and treating primary-care or MSK patients, including your role in documentation, coding, prior authorizations, and billing coordination.

Please do not include confidential patient information, passwords, or Social Security numbers.

Pay: $80.00 per hour

Application Question(s):

  • Which insurers are you currently credentialed or in-network with: Florida Blue/BCBS, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, AvMed, Medicare, Other, Applications pending, or None/unsure? For EACH, give the specific network/plan, active or pending status, and whether individual or through an employer/group. Include group, location and effective date if known. Existing participation does not automatically transfer to Oak; affiliation with Oak's tax ID, group NPI, location, specific plan and effective date must be verified.
  • Describe your experience treating primary-care or MSK patients and billing commercial insurance. Which plans and practice settings? What was your role in documentation, coding, prior authorizations, claim submission or denial resolution? Have you completed payer enrollment or joined a new group, and is your CAQH profile current if applicable?
  • Do you hold an active, unencumbered Florida APRN license and active Florida autonomous-practice registration? Provide your license number, registration status, national NP certification and patient age groups within your education/certification. Describe recent primary-care and MSK experience, conservative care, red-flag recognition and referral practices. List additional MSK training or procedural experience separately; procedures are not automatically part of this role.
  • What days, times and frequency can you offer for an initial half-day shift, and when could you start? Are you comfortable with $80/hour for the initial shift and discussing compensation separately if hours expand? What employment arrangement do you seek? Describe your current malpractice coverage, including autonomous primary care and additional locations; your approach to results, refills and messages between shifts; and your interest in helping grow a multidisciplinary practice.
