About this role

Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.

**About the Role**

The Lead Software Engineer is a senior technical contributor and customer\-facing engineering leader responsible for the architecture, design, development, delivery, and support of embedded firmware and system software for custom hardware platforms. This working lead position combines hands\-on coding, debugging, testing, and hardware bring\-up with technical leadership and direct customer engagement.

The role translates customer needs into reliable, maintainable software solutions and provides technical direction to team members across the full product lifecycle.

**What You Will Do**

· Lead the architecture, design, development, testing, and maintenance of embedded firmware and system software for custom hardware platforms.

· Use modern development, automation, and AI\-assisted engineering tools responsibly to improve delivery speed, code quality, test coverage, documentation, and debugging effectiveness.

· Be the lead voice actively involved in implementation by writing, reviewing, testing, debugging, and optimizing production\-quality embedded software for the software team.

· Serve as a primary software technical interface for customers during requirements discussions, design reviews, project updates, troubleshooting, and solution development.

· Translate customer business needs, use cases, and application requirements into practical software architectures, technical designs, estimates, and feature implementations.

· Create and clearly articulate software architectures from high\-level product designs, including key interfaces, dependencies, risks, tradeoffs, and implementation plans.

· Lead technical design reviews and guide software decisions so solutions are scalable, testable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with customer and product requirements.

· Take ownership of critical software components and deliver complete solutions within agreed schedules and engineering\-hour estimates.

· Lead root\-cause analysis and resolution of complex product, integration, field, and customer issues while clearly communicating impact, status, approach, and expected effort.

· Support new product introduction, board bring\-up, system integration, verification, validation, manufacturing readiness, deployment, and post\-release support.

· Work closely with electrical engineering and QA to define interfaces, test strategies, acceptance criteria, diagnostics, and defect\-resolution plans.

· Establish and reinforce software development best practices, coding standards, architecture documentation, peer review, configuration management, and verification processes.

· Provide day\-to\-day technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers and global team members while promoting clear ownership and timely, high\-quality delivery.

· Communicate proactively with customers and internal stakeholders, identify design gaps and risks early, and drive issues to resolution.

**What We Are Looking For**

· Demonstrated experience designing and developing touch screen based customer facing software, embedded firmware or system software for custom electronic products and hardware platforms.

· Background and interest in using AI tools as a primary part of executing and improving daily work and planning.

· Strong hands\-on proficiency in embedded software development, debugging, testing, code review, and maintenance using languages and tools appropriate to the product environment.

· Ability to work close to the hardware and diagnose issues across firmware, software, electronics, communications, timing, interfaces, and system\-integration boundaries.

· Experience defining software architecture, decomposing requirements, producing technical designs, estimating effort, and leading implementation from concept through release.

· Strong customer\-facing communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts, guide design discussions, clarify tradeoffs, respond to concerns, and build confidence with technical and non\-technical stakeholders.

· Proven ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive ambiguous or complex problems toward a verified resolution.

· Ability to lead through technical influence, provide constructive feedback, mentor engineers, and coordinate effectively with U. S. and international engineering teams.

· Experience collaborating with electrical engineering, QA, manufacturing, product management, and project management throughout the embedded product lifecycle.

· Strong working knowledge of maintainable design, source control, peer review, defect tracking, automated or structured testing, documentation, and release discipline.

· Ability to prioritize competing technical and customer needs while delivering on time and within estimated engineering effort.

· Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
