About this role

Overview

We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and hands-on Field & Operations Manager to oversee residential exterior construction projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate brings a combination of strong project management skills and practical, hands-on trade experience, particularly in roofing, siding, and exterior home services.

This is a dynamic role that requires someone who can confidently manage projects and crews, maintain strong customer relationships, ensure quality workmanship, and step in to troubleshoot or complete smaller repairs when needed.

We're looking for a proactive problem-solver who is equally comfortable coordinating jobs, managing field operations, and getting their hands dirty. Strong communication, organization, customer service, time management, and attention to detail are essential.

Preference will be given to candidates who bring both proven project/crew management experience and trade-specific skills, including the ability to independently assess and complete minor exterior home repairs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Project & Field Management

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of construction projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee crews and subcontractors, ensuring clear expectations, efficient execution, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Review job scopes, materials, and project requirements prior to job initiation to ensure crews are set up for success.
  • Conduct regular job site visits to monitor progress, address issues, ensure material availability, and verify workmanship meets company standards.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for homeowners throughout their projects, ensuring they feel informed, comfortable, and confident in the work being performed.
  • Conduct project closeouts, verify quality and completeness of work, and confirm customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with crews, suppliers, and office staff to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Utilize construction management software such as Jobber to track jobs, maintain documentation, and ensure adherence to operating processes.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members regarding project timelines, priorities, and deliverables.

Hands-On Field

Support & Repairs

  • Leverage hands-on roofing, siding, and/or exterior construction experience to evaluate workmanship, diagnose issues, and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Independently perform small repairs, service calls, punch-list items, and minor exterior maintenance work as needed and within demonstrated trade competency.
  • Troubleshoot field challenges and determine when issues can be addressed directly versus requiring additional crew support.
  • Assist with material and tool deliveries to job sites as needed.
  • Help maintain and organize the shop, tools, equipment, and materials.

Sales & Customer Service

  • Conduct sales appointments, evaluate exterior home improvement needs, scope work, and prepare accurate quotes.
  • Educate homeowners on recommended solutions, providing clear and honest guidance through a no-pressure sales approach.
  • Build positive customer relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and strong follow-through.

Requirements

  • Professional, reliable, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. This role is a direct reflection of our company and team.
  • Relevant trade experience in roofing, siding, exterior construction, or residential home repairs, with a solid understanding of materials, installation techniques, and quality standards.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and crews, including coordinating schedules, overseeing workmanship, resolving field challenges, and ensuring successful job completion.
  • Hands-on repair capabilities strongly preferred, particularly the ability to independently diagnose and complete smaller roofing, siding, trim, or other exterior home repairs.
  • Comfortable working both in a management capacity and physically in the field when needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Resourceful, solutions-oriented, and quick to identify and resolve issues.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills. Must be professional, personable, polished, and comfortable communicating directly with homeowners.
  • Comfortable using technology and project management software; experience with Jobber is a plus.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and travel between job sites.
  • Valid driver's license.

Our Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who can manage the job, lead the crew, and knows the trade well enough to step in and get the work done when needed.

While project management experience is important, we're especially interested in candidates who have spent time working hands-on in the trades and can apply that knowledge to make better decisions in the field, maintain quality standards, and independently handle smaller repairs and service needs.

Candidates who offer both strong field leadership and practical, hands-on exterior construction skills will receive priority consideration.
