Job Overview

Nokia is seeking a skilled Network Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for advanced networking systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with software development, network protocols, and operating systems, along with strong problem-solving skills and an interest in telecommunications technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain network software and related applications.
• Develop software components for routing, switching, and network management systems.
• Work with network protocols and troubleshoot connectivity or performance issues.
• Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code using C, C++, or Python.
• Collaborate with hardware, testing, and systems engineering teams.
• Perform debugging, code reviews, and software testing.
• Analyze system performance and improve software reliability.
• Prepare technical documentation and contribute to development standards.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with C or C++ programming and software development.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Linux or other Unix-based operating systems.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and debugging techniques.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, or IS-IS.
• Familiarity with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
• Experience with Linux networking, distributed systems, or network automation.
• Knowledge of Python scripting, Git, and software testing tools.
• Exposure to cloud networking, virtualization, or container technologies.

Compensation

The estimated annual salary range for this sample position is $130,000 – $180,000, depending on relevant experience, technical skills, and job responsibilities. Actual compensation and benefits must be confirmed with Nokia before publishing.
