Niess Impressions is a locally operated print and promotional products business serving customers in the Minot area. We help businesses and individuals bring their ideas to life through graphic design, printing, signage, banners, promotional products, and more.

We're looking for a creative, organized, and dependable Graphic Designer & Office Administrator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with a graphic design background who enjoys working with customers and is comfortable balancing creative projects with office responsibilities.

As part of a small team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, build relationships with customers, and learn different aspects of the printing and promotional products industry.

What You'll Do

Graphic Design

  • Create and revise artwork for customer projects, including business cards, flyers, brochures, banners, signs, promotional products, and other printed materials.
  • Work with customers to understand their needs, develop design concepts, and make requested revisions.
  • Prepare and check artwork to ensure layouts, colors, dimensions, and files are ready for printing or production.
  • Review proofs and communicate with customers to obtain approvals and clarify design details.
  • Adapt artwork for different products, printing methods, and production equipment.
  • Learn and use CorelDRAW for laser engraving and cutting projects as needed.

Office Administration & Customer Service

  • Answer phone calls and emails and assist customers with questions about products, pricing, and orders.
  • Prepare quotes, invoices, and other customer documentation.
  • Enter customer orders, maintain accurate records, and track projects through completion.
  • Communicate with customers regarding proofs, timelines, order status, and project details.
  • Assist with general office duties and help keep daily operations organized.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service and help address customer questions or concerns.

Print Production & Order Coordination

  • Assist with preparing, organizing, and producing customer orders.
  • Learn to operate and assist with printing, finishing, and other production equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate with teammates to move projects from design through production and completion.
  • Monitor job progress and help ensure deadlines and customer expectations are met.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.

Teamwork & Cross-Training

  • Learn and assist with responsibilities across the office, design department, and print production as needed.
  • Help coworkers during busy periods and assist with essential tasks when needed.
  • Follow established procedures and contribute ideas to improve organization, communication, and workflow.
  • Be willing to learn new products, software, equipment, and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Graphic design experience or formal education in graphic design.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Understanding of basic design principles, typography, layout, color, and preparing artwork for print.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable using computers, email, and common office software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and stay organized.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new software, equipment, and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign or other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Experience preparing artwork for commercial printing, signage, banners, promotional products, or similar projects.
  • Familiarity with CorelDRAW, especially for laser engraving or cutting.
  • Experience with office administration, customer service, quoting, invoicing, order entry, or customer correspondence.
  • Experience in a print shop, sign shop, promotional products business, or a similar environment.

Office administration experience is preferred. Candidates should be comfortable with administrative responsibilities or be willing and eager to learn tasks such as quoting, invoicing, order entry, and customer communication.

What We're Looking For

We want someone who enjoys creative work but also understands the importance of organization, communication, and customer service. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing quality designs, pays attention to the details, and is comfortable switching between creative projects and administrative tasks throughout the day.

Because we're a small team, flexibility and teamwork are important. This is a hands-on position where responsibilities may change depending on customer needs, design projects, office workload, and production deadlines.
