Associate Visual Designer

We are seeking an Associate Visual Designer to join a growing design studio in New York. This is an opportunity for an early-career designer with a strong visual point of view to work alongside experienced creative leaders on digital products for large, complex organizations.

The ideal candidate has an exceptional eye for typography, layout, color, composition, and visual detail, along with an interest in digital product design and design systems. Professional experience is not required if you have a strong portfolio demonstrating your capabilities through internships, school projects, freelance work, or personal projects.

Responsibilities

• Design digital product screens, layouts, components, iconography, and visual systems
• Explore typography, color, spacing, and interaction within established and evolving design systems
• Create visual concepts, motion studies, prototypes, and presentation materials
• Collaborate with senior designers, product teams, engineers, and other cross-functional partners
• Contribute to user flows and scalable design systems across complex digital experiences
• Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback into your work
• Support both client-facing product work and new-business presentations
• Design within accessibility, regulatory, and technical requirements
• Explore generative AI tools as part of the creative and design process

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of professional design experience, including internships, freelance work, or equivalent experience
• Strong portfolio demonstrating excellent visual design fundamentals and a clear point of view
• Strong understanding of typography, layout, color, spacing, hierarchy, and composition
• Experience with or strong interest in UI and digital product design
• Familiarity with design systems, components, and user flows
• Ability to articulate the reasoning behind design decisions
• Curiosity about emerging design tools and generative AI
• Strong communication skills and an eagerness to learn from senior creative leadership
