About this role
The role
You will run a 30,000 square foot warehouse that stores and moves inventory. You own the building, the team, the inventory and the relationship with the customers.
We are looking for someone who has carried real accountability for 3rd party property and knows what a 98 percent inventory accuracy standard actually takes.
What you will do
- Run day-to-day warehouse operations and supervise a team of four to five: a material coordinator, warehouse specialists and material handlers.
- Own accountability for all property in the building — receipt, records, physical inventories, reporting, and relief of stewardship.
- Maintain inventory records in ERP to a 98 percent accuracy standard, validated by periodic physical inventory.
- Keep material physically and administratively separate from everything else. Zero commingling is a contract standard with no tolerance.
- Make sure incoming shipments are processed and placed into deep stow within two business days of arrival.
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the customer and technical point of contact.
- Prepare and deliver contract reports on time: a monthly progress report, a monthly quality report, a monthly training log, and a quarterly property inventory.
- Report any discrepancy, loss or damage to the client within 24 hours of discovery.
- Run the site safely — material handling equipment, hazardous material storage, housekeeping, and compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Hold subcontractor staff on site to the same standard as our own.
What you need
- A bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline from an accredited college or university. In place of the degree, ten years of related business experience in Plant Property and Equipment or Asset Management.
- Ten years of management experience in material accountability, program or project level management of subordinates and subcontractors, and performing physical inventories.
- Demonstrated experience supervising a warehouse or distribution team.
- Comfortable writing — this role produces written deliverables to the client every month.
What helps
- ERP experience.
- Working knowledge of property management policy — the Financial Management Regulation, and Instructions on accountability.
- Prior work supporting government activity.
- An active Secret clearance.
- Forklift certification.
Working conditions
- Warehouse environment. Heated, with destratification fans, powered ventilation and spot cooling. Temperature varies seasonally.
- Regularly on the warehouse floor, not behind a desk all day. Standing, walking, climbing and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
Compensation and benefits
- $80k - $110k
- Paid holidays and paid vacation
- MEDICAL / DENTAL / VISION / 401(k)
Requirements that apply to every position on this contract
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable federal background investigation and national security eligibility. Candidates who already hold an active Secret clearance are strongly preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Employment is contingent on our client accepting your qualifications for the role. We submit a written certification before anyone begins work.
- This position is on site in Waldorf, Maryland. It is not remote and it is not hybrid.
- Sign and comply with a non-disclosure agreement, and complete training on handling Controlled Unclassified Information. This role works with sensitive client information every day and you will be expected to protect it.
