Registered Nurse - Med Surg - Forensics - 7th Floor

Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN), Forensics in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Forensic RN is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environment, treatment and modalities and interdisciplinary collaboration necessary for the care of patients ranging from adult through geriatric.

As a Forensics RN you will be responsible for:

• Admitting and assessing patients
• Administering medication and treatments
• Monitoring vital signs and symptoms
• Running and ordering tests
• Coordinating care with Physicians and Specialists
• Charting Patient Progress

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited associate of Nursing degree (or Diploma) Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Preferred.
• Current Licensure or permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state.
• BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development necessary for assessment, range of treatment and care of forensic patients ranging from adult through geriatrics.
• Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures, patient care procedures, and the ability to operate technical equipment as acquired through orientation. In addition, a working knowledge of TN Department of Corrections and Davidson County Sheriff’s Office policy and procedures when interacting with forensic patients preferred.
