Job description

About this role

We are building a practical AI capabilities for airline employees and customers. We are looking for an engineer who enjoys turning existing AI models, company knowledge and business systems into useful, reliable applications.

You will help take ownership of our growing AI knowledge base and the software that makes it useful. Projects include crew assistance, document and image understanding, multilingual information retrieval, and customer-facing connections to flight information and booking services.

The focus is applying existing models and tools to real problems. You will work with a small team, contribute directly to technical decisions, and follow projects from early prototypes through testing, deployment and ongoing improvement.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain our AI knowledge corpus: collect, clean, organize and update documents and structured information while preserving sources, versions and access permissions.
  • Improve retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), including document processing, embeddings, search and the quality of information supplied to models.
  • Integrate and maintain models such as Qwen for vision and Gemma for answer generation, including local deployment on Apple silicon.
  • Work with our application developers on Apple Intelligence and the Foundation Models framework.
  • Develop Model Context Protocol (MCP) and API integrations for customer-facing services such as flight schedules, fare search and booking workflows, using authoritative business systems for current information.
  • Create repeatable evaluations, investigate incorrect answers and integration failures, and improve accuracy, response time and reliability.
  • Document your work and build maintainable systems with appropriate security, privacy and monitoring.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated ability to build working software, including an LLM application, retrieval system, AI integration or substantial related project.
  • Strong programming and debugging skills, particularly in Python, with experience using APIs, processing data and working with Git.
  • Practical understanding of how language models use retrieved information and tools, including their limitations.
  • Ability to turn an unclear business request into a manageable implementation and explain technical choices clearly.
  • Care with source accuracy, confidential information and testing.
  • Independence, curiosity and willingness to maintain and improve what you build.

Helpful experience

  • Qwen, Gemma or comparable open-weight models.
  • RAG pipelines, vector search, reranking and automated evaluations.
  • MCP servers, tool calling, authentication and business-system integrations.
  • Swift, iOS/macOS development, Apple Intelligence, Foundation Models or MLX.
  • Local or offline AI deployment, multilingual applications, document processing or computer vision.
  • Airline, travel, commerce or other operational systems.

You do not need experience with every technology listed. Strong engineering fundamentals and evidence of useful work matter more than a particular degree or an extensive list of AI tools.

How we work

We encourage using AI tools for development, research, documentation and content preparation. You should be comfortable using them to move faster while understanding, testing and taking responsibility for the resulting work.

This role offers direct ownership, access to real airline problems and the opportunity to help shape a growing internal AI capability.
