As this business grows, we’re looking for an Account Manager to care for a portfolio of client accounts. You’ll be the dependable, responsive contact our clients rely on. You’ll get to know their needs, keep their work running smoothly, and spot growth opportunities to share with senior colleagues and subject-matter experts.
This role suits someone in the early-to-mid stage of an account management career who wants to deepen their expertise in scholarly publishing within a proven, structured framework.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for assigned accounts, responding promptly to client questions and requests
- Build strong working relationships with client contacts, particularly at the production and editorial level
- Monitor service delivery and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues quickly and keep clients satisfied
- Identify potential growth opportunities within accounts and refer them to senior account leads and subject-matter experts
- Support the sales process by preparing client materials, scheduling demonstrations, and following up on proposals
- Assist with renewals and contract administration, ensuring deadlines are tracked and met
- Respond to and qualify inbound enquiries, routing promising leads to the appropriate colleague
- Keep pipeline, activity, and account records accurate and current in the company's CRM system
- Prepare regular account updates and contribute to account reviews
- Attend industry events and client meetings alongside senior colleagues, with occasional travel as needed
Qualifications
- 1–4 years of experience in account management, customer success, sales support, or another client-facing role; exposure to publishing or the scholarly/research market is a plus
- A client-first mindset, with a track record of following through on commitments and handling requests promptly
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills, and comfort working with client contacts at different levels
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities at once
- Familiarity with a CRM system (Zoho preferred) or a willingness to learn quickly
- A comfort with structured process and an eagerness to learn, take feedback, and grow toward greater account and revenue ownership
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
