Join MAPFRE as an Agentic AI Engineer (Insurance & Agentic Workflows) in Webster, MA or the Greater Boston area. This is a full-time hybrid opportunity focused on designing, building, and deploying production-grade AI agents and agentic workflows that transform complex insurance operations.

You will work at the intersection of AI, software engineering, and insurance, leveraging technologies such as Python, LangGraph, AWS, FastAPI, LLMs, and agentic AI frameworks to deliver scalable, enterprise-ready solutions.

This is an opportunity to shape how agentic AI is engineered and adopted across a global insurance organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex business problems, building production AI systems from the ground up, and collaborating closely with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders.

You will own solutions end-to-end, from prototyping and validation through production deployment, while directly influencing AI best practices across the organization.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field with 7+ years of software, machine learning, or data engineering experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building LLM-based applications, including at least one agentic system deployed to production
  • Strong Python development skills and software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience building APIs, integrating tools and services, automated testing, debugging, and version control
  • Experience with agent frameworks or SDKs, with LangGraph strongly preferred
  • Experience with major model APIs or managed AI platforms such as Amazon Bedrock
  • Experience building production AI agents that integrate with tools, APIs, and enterprise systems
  • Experience evaluating LLM applications and agents using test datasets, metrics, regression testing, and model-based evaluation
  • Understanding of AI agent reliability, governance, security risks, and operational controls
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to solve complex and ambiguous problems with minimal direction

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Insurance industry experience strongly preferred
  • Claims or underwriting domain expertise
  • Experience deploying AI applications on AWS using containers and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), context engineering, and structured outputs
  • Experience integrating agents into enterprise systems through APIs and MCP
  • Experience mentoring team members and driving engineering best practices across teams

What You Will Be Doing

Tech Breakdown

  • Design, build, and deploy AI agents and multi-step agentic workflows
  • Develop backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI
  • Build and evaluate LLM-powered applications and autonomous agent systems
  • Deploy cloud-native AI solutions using AWS, containers, and CI/CD
  • Implement monitoring, observability, governance, and security controls for production AI systems

Daily Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements and solution designs into production-ready AI agents
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and engineering patterns for underwriting and claims use cases
  • Integrate AI agents with enterprise applications, APIs, data sources, and MCP servers
  • Develop testing frameworks, evaluation datasets, and quality monitoring processes
  • Implement guardrails, auditing, human-in-the-loop workflows, and compliance controls
  • Prototype, validate, deploy, and scale AI solutions with business and technical stakeholders
  • Measure technical performance and business value while communicating outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences
