Job Description: Mechanical Systems Engineer

Position Summary

The Mechanical Systems Engineer bridges the gap between engineering design, supply chain, and production floor operations. This role is responsible for managing complex mechanical assemblies, maintaining ERP data integrity, collaborating with purchasing, and supporting floor staff to ensure efficient manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

ERP & System Management

  • SolidWorks design utilizing Solidworks to make 3d part models and manufacturing drawings for components and assemblies.
  • Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), part numbers, and routings within the ERP system.
  • Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to update system data seamlessly.
  • Audit ERP inventory data against actual shop floor stocks to prevent production bottlenecks.

Vendor & Sourcing Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for external component and fabrication vendors.
  • Review vendor manufacturing capabilities to ensure alignment with engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing department to evaluate vendor quotes and lower material costs.

Shop Floor & Production

Support

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support directly to assembly and fabrication floor staff.
  • Design manufacturing fixtures and work instructions to streamline assembly line processes.
  • Gather feedback from floor technicians to drive continuous product and safety improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • ERP Proficiency: Proven experience using industrial ERP systems (such as Macola, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Epicor).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and reading manufacturing drawings.
  • Communication: Strong ability to explain complex technical designs to both corporate vendors and floor technicians.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
