Independent Sales Representative (Cannabis) - New York

Starbase is a cannabis brand house built by a crew of longtime friends and operators with deep roots in the industry. We launched in Massachusetts in mid-May and are already in over two dozen shops statewide, and we’re now building our presence in New York.

We operate out of a state-of-the-art facility with full automation, designed to deliver consistent, thoughtful, and high-quality product at scale. More brands are on the way as we continue to grow.

About This Role

This is an independent contractor (1099) opportunity, not an employee position. You’ll run your own book of business, in the way of a straight-commission rep in the medical industry. You decide how to build and manage your territory, your schedule, and your methods.

We provide the product, pricing, and brand support. You bring the relationships.

What You’ll Do

• Build and grow relationships with licensed New York dispensaries and secure placement and reorders for Starbase products
• Introduce Vacation, Country, and future brands to store buyers and staff
• Manage your accounts over time, including follow-up, reorders, and resolving issues
• Share useful market feedback with the Starbase team, such as what’s selling, shelf presence, and competitive activity
• Use the sample, snack, and merch materials we provide to support your accounts
• Represent the Starbase brand professionally and in compliance with all applicable New York cannabis regulations

What We’re Looking For

• Must be 21 or older and legally eligible to work with licensed cannabis businesses in New York
• Existing relationships with New York dispensary buyers or owners are strongly preferred
• Proven ability to sell, build trust, and close business, ideally in cannabis, CPG, beverage, or retail
• Self-directed and organized, with the ability to manage your own territory and time
• Reliable transportation and your own means of covering your territory
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, respectful presence

Bonus If You…

• Know the plant, terpenes, and current New York market trends
• Have a book of existing accounts or a strong network in New York
• Are comfortable creating light, authentic content for your accounts and social channels

Compensation

• 8% commission on net revenue from the accounts you open and manage
• Commission is paid when we receive payment from the customer
• Commission continues for as long as you actively manage the account relationship
• Uncapped earning potential
• No base pay or guaranteed income. This is a commission-only role.

Independent Contractor Terms

You’ll be engaged under an independent contractor agreement. You’re responsible for your own taxes, insurance, vehicle, and business expenses, and you’re free to set your own hours and approach. You’ll receive a Form 1099 and are not eligible for employee benefits.

Physical Requirements

Independent representatives engaging with this opportunity should be prepared to navigate New York City’s five boroughs regularly, conduct in-person account visits involving extended periods of walking and standing, and occasionally handle display or sample materials up to 30 lbs. As an independent contractor, you are solely responsible for your own health, safety, and physical readiness to perform your services.
