This position offers the opportunity to contribute to accurate financial reporting, strengthen accounting processes, and collaborate with teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Month-End Close

  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries with accurate supporting documentation.
  • Complete assigned month-end close activities in accordance with established deadlines and the close calendar.
  • Record intercompany transactions and assist with reconciling intercompany balances across company entities.

Accruals & Prepaid Expenses

  • Calculate and record monthly accruals, including carrier and freight costs, payroll, and operating expenses.
  • Monitor and reverse accruals as invoices are received, adjusting estimates to reflect actual expenses.
  • Maintain prepaid expense and amortization schedules to support accurate financial reporting.

Account Reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and intercompany accounts.
  • Research and resolve reconciling items promptly, escalating aged, unusual, or complex discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintain clear documentation to support account balances and ensure compliance with accounting procedures.

Financial Research & Analysis

  • Investigate account activity, financial variances, and discrepancies, documenting findings and recommended resolutions.
  • Prepare flux analyses and explain month-over-month and budget-to-actual variances for assigned accounts.
  • Extract and analyze data from the ERP and other financial systems to support reporting, decision-making, and ad hoc requests.

Audit, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for annual external audits and tax filings.
  • Follow established internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with shared services and operations teams to resolve transaction coding questions and accounting discrepancies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of general ledger accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and working with large data sets.
  • Experience using an ERP platform or accounting system.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting month-end close deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or another high-transaction-volume industry.
  • Experience supporting external audits, tax filings, or accounting process improvements.
