About this role
Position Overview
Are you an experienced Physical Therapist looking for an opportunity to apply your clinical knowledge in a different setting?
Midland Physical Therapy is seeking a seasoned, knowledgeable Physical Therapist to join our Occupational Medicine and Employment Testing team. This is a unique opportunity to step outside the traditional outpatient therapy environment and apply your expertise in functional movement, physical capabilities, biomechanics, and workplace safety.
This position does not involve traditional patient treatment or managing a physical therapy caseload. Instead, you will play an important role in evaluating physical abilities, supporting employment testing programs, and helping employers make informed decisions regarding workforce readiness and job-related physical demands.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and support occupational physical assessments and employment testing programs.
- Evaluate functional movement, strength, mobility, and physical capabilities in relation to job demands.
- Apply clinical expertise to WorkSTEPS and other functional employment testing protocols.
- Assist with interpreting physical testing results and identifying functional limitations.
- Ensure testing procedures are performed consistently, accurately, and in accordance with established protocols.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to occupational testing staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate findings appropriately.
- Help maintain quality, consistency, and integrity across employment testing services.
- Serve as a clinical resource for the Occupational Medicine team.
Qualifications
- Current Texas Physical Therapy license in good standing.
- Several years of professional experience as a Physical Therapist preferred.
- Strong understanding of biomechanics, functional movement, strength, and physical capabilities.
- Experience with occupational health, work conditioning, functional capacity evaluations (FCEs), or employment testing is a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a nontraditional clinical environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Why Midland Physical Therapy?
This is an opportunity to put your experience and clinical knowledge to work in a different capacity. Rather than managing a traditional patient caseload, you will contribute to the occupational health side of healthcare, helping evaluate workforce capabilities and supporting employers and employees through employment testing.
If you are an experienced PT looking for something different, we would love to hear from you.
