About this role

About Metropolis Dermatology

We do derm differently. Our mission is to make healthy skin accessible to everyone by providing the highest quality medical and cosmetic dermatology care. Metropolis Dermatology is growing rapidly, with plans to expand our footprint throughout California.

We're looking for passionate, self-motivated do-ers to help us execute on our bold mission.

About the Role

As a Regional Operations Manager, you are accountable for the performance of a group of Metropolis clinics: operational excellence, financial results, patient satisfaction, and growth. You lead and develop the Practice Supervisors who run each clinic day to day. You partner with each site's Clinical Director and executive leadership to turn Metropolis strategy into results on the ground.

You are a builder. You raise the standard across your region, spot problems early, and help the company scale to new locations.

Home base and region

This role is based in San Jose. You will oversee a group of Metropolis clinics assigned by leadership, with regular travel between them. Our clinics are in Downtown LA, Brentwood, Pasadena, Costa Mesa, and San Jose.

Mileage between clinics is reimbursed.

What You'll Do

Regional Operations Leadership

  • Own operational performance across all clinics in your region and hold each clinic to Metropolis standards
  • Partner with each Clinical Director to align workflows with clinical requirements and build and execute clinic business plans
  • Visit clinics regularly to observe operations, coach supervisors, and solve problems in person
  • Standardize best practices and share what works across clinics
  • Lead change management for new systems, policies, and initiatives
  • Lead complex operational and patient service escalations

Financial Performance & Growth

  • Manage clinic financial outcomes, including budgets, labor and staffing models, supply spend, and productivity
  • Review clinic KPIs (visit volume, schedule utilization, access and wait times, revenue, and cost) and drive action plans
  • Identify growth opportunities, including patient access, retention, and service mix
  • Support new clinic launches, including staffing, training, and readiness
  • Conduct monthly productivity dashboard reviews with clinicians in partnership with Clinical Directors

Patient & Provider Satisfaction

  • Lead regional patient experience improvement, including feedback, trends, and complaints
  • Develop and implement consistent service standards, and ensure supervisors reinforce them daily
  • Build strong working relationships with providers and clinical leadership
  • Close the loop on issues and recommend system or process fixes

People Leadership

  • Lead hiring and onboarding of Practice Supervisors. Set clear expectations, coach, and conduct performance reviews
  • Develop supervisors into strong leaders and build a bench for future growth
  • Partner with HR on recruiting, retention, and succession for clinic staff roles
  • Hold regular 1:1s and team meetings, and give timely, candid feedback

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure regional compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and healthcare and employment regulations
  • Conduct periodic clinic audits and track corrective actions
  • Lead regional rollout of digital tools and AI-driven technologies, such as AI scribes, with proper security, compliance, and change management

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5+ years of operations experience in multi-site healthcare, ambulatory, or similar service environments
  • 2+ years managing managers or supervisors
  • Experience owning budgets, staffing models, or a clinic or multi-site P&L
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort using KPIs to drive decisions
  • Proven track record leading change management and healthcare technology rollouts, including AI-driven solutions
  • Strong grasp of HIPAA, data privacy, and security considerations for new technology in healthcare operations
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and communication skills
  • Calm, flexible, and decisive in a fast-growing environment
  • Ability to work weekdays and occasional Saturdays
  • Proof of adherence to CA state and local healthcare vaccination standards
  • Ability to travel regularly between clinic locations

Nice to Have

  • Experience in dermatology, aesthetics, or skin care
  • Experience opening or integrating new clinic locations
  • Experience with practice management and EHR systems

  • On-site interviews with executive leadership and management team
  • Three professional references

Compensation: $80,000 to $90,000 per year, plus a target annual bonus of 10% based on regional KPIs. Final offer depends on experience and qualifications.
