About this role

**NO RECRUITERS**

Position Summary

Meta Tech Industries, Inc. is seeking a motivated and technically minded Manufacturing Engineer to join our team, with a primary focus on Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming, dimensional metrology, and manufacturing quality.

We welcome both recent engineering graduates looking to develop their careers and experienced professionals seeking a challenging technical opportunity.

Previous CMM programming experience is not required. We are willing to invest in training and developing the right individual who demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in precision manufacturing.

For candidates who already possess CMM programming or advanced metrology experience, this position offers opportunities to take on more complex responsibilities and contribute immediately to our manufacturing and quality operations.

About Us

We specialize in manufacturing complex, high-precision components for the Aerospace, Oil and Gas, Nuclear and Defense industries. We mostly do prototype and low volume production work. Our work involves challenging geometries, tight tolerances, exotic materials, and thorough quality requirements.

Position Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in CMM Programming and Metrology, you will work closely with our Quality and Manufacturing teams to develop inspection programs and measurement strategies for precision-machined components.

You will learn to interpret complex engineering drawings, understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), develop CMM inspection programs, and analyze dimensional inspection results.

This is a hands-on technical position that provides direct exposure to advanced CNC manufacturing, aerospace quality requirements, and precision measurement technologies.

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, understanding how things work, and continuously improving their skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain CMM inspection programs for complex precision-machined components.
  • Learn and utilize ZEISS CMM equipment and CALYPSO programming software.
  • Collaborate with CNC machinists, programmers, and manufacturing personnel to resolve dimensional manufacturing challenges.
  • Develop measurement strategies for geometric features, dimensional tolerances, and complex part geometries.
  • Perform and support first article inspections and production dimensional verification.
  • Analyze inspection results to determine whether manufactured components meet engineering requirements.
  • Troubleshoot inspection programs, alignment issues, measurement discrepancies, and probing strategies.
  • Improve inspection efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability through continuous program development.
  • Review and assist in the control and disposition of nonconforming product.
  • Other activities as deemed necessary by management

Manufacturing Engineer Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related technical discipline; equivalent relevant technical experience will also be considered.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how precision mechanical components are manufactured and inspected.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings or a willingness to further develop this skill.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with computers, technical software, and engineering applications.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, manufacturing processes, and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently as technical proficiency develops.

Prior CMM programming experience is NOT required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

For candidates without previous CMM programming experience, we will provide hands-on training in:

  • ZEISS CMM operation and CALYPSO programming.
  • Advanced engineering drawing interpretation and GD&T.
  • Dimensional metrology and precision measurement techniques.
  • CMM inspection programming using 3D CAD models.
  • Inspection of complex aerospace components.
  • CNC manufacturing processes and the relationship between machining and inspection.
  • Aerospace quality requirements and inspection documentation.
  • Problem-solving techniques for dimensional manufacturing challenges.
