Principal Product Manager, AI Strategy & Execution
About this role
Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.
Merge medical imaging solutions, offered by Merative, combine intelligent, scalable imaging workflow tools with deep and broad expertise to help healthcare organizations improve their confidence in patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.
Merge is one of the most widely deployed medical imaging platforms in the world. Radiologists and cardiologists rely on us to store, move, and read imaging studies across enterprise health systems, teleradiology reading centers, and community hospitals. We are focused on putting AI governed intelligence directly into the reading experience.
This is a rare chance to shape how AI reaches the point of care at real scale.
The opportunity
The market does not want more point tools; it wants one place where intelligence is governed and lives in the workflow. You will set where AI shows up across the portfolio and why, then carry the highest-leverage capabilities all the way to clinicians in production. You will partner closely with engineering, design, clinical advisors, and our partner ecosystem — and you will report directly to the VP, Product.
This is a builder’s role, not a slideware role. We are looking for a product leader who can hold a multi-year AI strategy in one hand and ship a governed model into the reading room with the other.
What you’ll own
- AI product strategy. Define and maintain the AI vision and roadmap across the Merge portfolio — where AI shows up in the data layer, the workflow, and the read, and how it compounds into a durable moat. Draw and defend the line between the workflow and data intelligence we build and the pixel AI that arrives through our partner marketplace.
- AI feature delivery. Take the highest-priority AI capabilities from discovery through launch, co-designed with radiologists and cardiologists on their own studies and case mix.
- Model governance in the workflow. Own the registry, governance, and monitoring that wrap every model, tied to our quality system so speed never costs safety.
- Time-to-value for AI. Drive time-to-add-a-model from quarters to weeks, so the next capability is configuration rather than a project.
What you’ll do
- Turn a portfolio-level AI strategy into a sequenced, evidence-backed roadmap, validated with win/loss data, product-readiness reviews, and early-access customers.
- Write crisp problem definitions and success metrics — % of reads AI-assisted in-workflow, measurable turnaround-time reduction, governed models live and growing.
- Lead an empowered, single-threaded team through the AI-native product development lifecycle, iterating with UX and engineering on the solution rather than handing off requirements.
- Represent Merge’s AI direction with customers, clinical advisors, analysts, and internal leadership — and bring what you hear back into the roadmap.
What you bring
- 8+ years in product management, including senior ownership of AI/ML-powered products shipped to production at scale.
- A track record of both setting strategy and delivering — you have owned a roadmap and personally carried hard features across the finish line.
- Fluency in applied AI/ML product decisions: model lifecycle, evaluation, governance, monitoring, and the trade-offs of putting models in front of expert users.
- Experience partnering with engineering and design in an empowered-team operating model, closer to the work than to the org chart.
- Clear, plain communication — you can make a complex AI strategy legible to clinicians, executives, and engineers alike.
Nice to have
- Background in healthcare, medical imaging, clinical workflow, or another regulated domain.
- Experience with platform, marketplace, or partner-ecosystem products.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and regulated software development.
Why this role matters
Fewer than 4% of buyers cite AI as a main reason they choose a PACS — which tells us the value is not in another model, but in intelligence that is governed and lives in the workflow. If you want your AI work to reach clinicians at real scale, in the moment they are reading, this is the seat.
