MeeBoss is sharing this active opportunity on behalf of the hiring company. This is a mid-level, on-site AI Engineer role based in San Francisco, CA. As one of the company’s first engineers, you will own the AI layer of the product, including models, pipelines, and evaluations.

This is a production engineering role focused on writing and shipping production code to real customers weekly, working closely with the founding team to turn ambiguous merchant problems into reliable AI features.

• Work directly with the founding team and product engineers to solve merchant problems.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end AI system, including prompting, retrieval (RAG), tool use, and agent orchestration across the merchant-facing assistant.
• Build evaluation harnesses before building features to ensure every model or prompt change is measured against defined quality benchmarks.
• Detect and prevent regressions through automated LLM evaluation pipelines integrated into the release process.
• Reduce inference latency and cost to levels sustainable at merchant scale.
• Diagnose ambiguous product problems to determine whether the root cause is a model, data, or UX issue, then drive the fix.
• Apply fine-tuning selectively where it delivers measurable gains over prompting and retrieval.
• Ship to production weekly and monitor real-world model behavior through logging, analytics, and user feedback.
• Make foundational architecture decisions for the AI stack and document the trade-offs behind them.
• Collaborate with full-stack engineers working in React, TypeScript, and Node.js to integrate AI capabilities across the product.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Mid-level experience (3-4 years).
• Proficiency in Python, LLMs, React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
