Backend Engineer

Alivio Search Partners is recruiting a Backend Engineer for a confidential technology client. This is an opportunity to take substantial ownership of production systems that process complex data at scale. Location and compensation Full-time in Brooklyn, New York, with five days per week in the office.

Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available. Base salary is $220,000 to $300,000, plus equity.

Own systems from architecture and implementation through monitoring, debugging, and recovery. Build reliable asynchronous workflows using queues, workers, and batch processing. Develop safeguards against duplicate results, incomplete processing, and data-quality errors.

Create internal tools that help engineers understand system behavior and investigate issues. Collaborate across engineering disciplines to ship secure, maintainable software. What you bring

• 3 to 10 years of software engineering experience, including personal ownership of production backend systems.
• Meaningful full-time experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup, with responsibility for decisions and delivery in an evolving environment.
• A relevant undergraduate STEM degree from a top-30 U.S. institution, as required by the client.
• Strong distributed-systems fundamentals, including concurrency, idempotency, retries, partial failures, and safe recovery.
• Proficiency in a general-purpose backend language. The environment uses Python, but engineers with strong Go, Rust, or Java experience are welcome.
• Ability to work onsite in Brooklyn five days each week.

Relevant technical experience AWS, workflow orchestration, object storage, relational or NoSQL databases, and batch-processing systems are useful. Familiarity with natural language processing and named entity recognition is also valued.

The work emphasizes software that transforms and validates data, with end-to-end backend ownership. Work authorization Visa transfers may be considered. Any additional sponsorship is reviewed individually and is not guaranteed.
