Join a Team That Believes Exceptional Mental Health Care Makes a Difference
We are a nonprofit, Joint Commission-accredited Outpatient Mental Health Clinic seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our close-knit clinical team.
We serve children, adolescents, adults, and older adults through Maryland's Public Behavioral Health System, providing psychiatric care to individuals with diverse backgrounds, diagnoses, and often complex clinical and psychosocial needs.
Our mission is rooted in a simple belief
Every individual deserves exceptional, compassionate, and accessible mental health care, regardless of their circumstances.
We are looking for someone who shares that belief—an experienced practitioner who genuinely enjoys community mental health, takes pride in clinical excellence, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.
We are not simply looking for someone to fill a position. We are looking for a valued colleague who shares our commitment to providing the highest standard of care.
The Opportunity
This position is ideal for an experienced PMHNP who enjoys direct patient care, is confident practicing independently within their authorized scope, and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
The successful candidate must be comfortable and experienced providing psychiatric evaluation and medication management to patients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
Our ideal candidate combines strong clinical skills with compassion, efficiency, dependability, and sound professional judgment. They are comfortable managing a busy outpatient caseload while understanding that excellent patient care extends beyond scheduled appointments.
Responding to refill requests, completing medication prior authorizations, returning patient calls, maintaining timely documentation, and ensuring continuity of care are all essential components of this role.
We especially value practitioners who demonstrate initiative, accountability, professional maturity, and a desire to contribute to the continued growth and excellence of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing medication management for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
- Independently manage a diverse outpatient psychiatric caseload within the practitioner's authorized scope of practice.
- Provide evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and nonjudgmental psychiatric care.
- Apply age-appropriate psychiatric assessment, diagnostic, and psychopharmacological approaches across the lifespan.
- Manage medication refill requests, prescription issues, prior authorizations, patient telephone calls, and other clinical needs promptly and reliably.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, clinical leadership, administrative staff, and other providers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Exercise sound clinical judgment in managing complex psychiatric presentations, assessing safety concerns, and determining appropriate treatment interventions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and other treatment providers, as clinically appropriate.
- Participate in clinical consultation, treatment coordination, quality improvement, and activities that promote the highest standards of patient care.
Who We're Looking For
